Hi, and a very warm welcome to Melbourne! I have been a tour guide since 2016 and absolutely love sharing Melbourne and Victoria with travellers like you. My background as a research librarian and then a school teacher has provided the perfect preparation and skill set for what I do now. My approach on your tour is to 'peel back the layers' of what you are seeing so you truly understand the 'why' and 'how' of Melbourne's natural and built environments, our history and culture. I do this with a strong connection to this part of Australia, living all of my life here and being a proud 7th generation Melburnian with a convict ancestor. My main interests are cycling and walking. I have cycled the The Camino in Spain, pedalled across Australia from west to east, and trekked the Great Ocean Walk twice. On a day off, I'm likely to be walking, cycling or taking a tram or road trip to explore another local area that could inspire a new tour addition for you. You will find me to be professional, friendly, easygoing and a good listener. I understand the importance of representing the face of Australia to you and I genuinely enjoy your company. I am a Professional member of Tour Guides Australia, an assurance that I am fully accredited and maintain all of the appropriate certificates, licences and insurances, to work as a tour guide in Australia. This includes a Parks Victoria licence to conduct tours in Victoria's national and state parks. Melbourne itself is best seen by walking and using the trams. Further afield, I generally drive my own vehicle, a top-of-the-range 2017 SUV Ford Escape Titanium, with air conditioning, leather seats, a sunroof, tray tables and full safety features. My vehicle comfortably seats 3 average size adults. I take great pride in presenting my car to a super clean standard. For groups of 4-11 travellers requiring more room, I can hire and drive a larger modern car or minibus to suit. I also have a licence to drive a 24-seater coach. The Great Ocean Road is arguably the most beautiful road trip in Australia with majestic vistas at every turn. You can enjoy peaceful farm settings, crashing waves, squeaky beaches and towering cliffs where the road unzips the mountains from the sea. We pass by quiet beachside towns that defy the onslaught of upscale development. This is how a road trip should be - scenic, unique and relaxing. I will take you to iconic sights, but slip in places less travelled that are equally interesting. I have a great passion for history and storytelling. What I share will help you understand the places, events and people that have shaped this special part of Victoria, so your tour memories linger. This 12 hour tour includes the Twelve Apostles, taking a loop of the quicker inland route and the slower coastal drive. The tour can be adjusted to an express tour direct to/from the Twelve Apostles, or a leisurely multi-day tour. Driving time can be reduced with a flight. Please ask for a custom tour if interested.
Our day with Leanne could not have been better! Not only was she professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with, she also planned the day so we could see the glorious great ocean road scenery and Australian wildlife while avoiding large crowds throughout the day. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour made possible by the excellent service of our driver, Leanne. Besides beautiful scenery along this route, Leanne engaged with us with very knowledgeable commentary, history, and pictures to help us get the most out of each stop. She made an extra effort so that we could see kangaroos and koalas in the wild. We were fortunate to see them, although you need to remember that Leanne can’t guarantee you that you will see them, but she knew exactly where they might be and they were there for us! It’s a long day, but we had many stops, including one for lunch at a delightful cafe. She even provided us with water and snacks along the way. We could have never seen and appreciated as much the sights that we saw without her experience and knowledge of the area. Great communication through the whole process from booking to end of tour!
Leanne was a GREAT ambassador of Australia! We absolutely enjoyed our full day Ocean Road trip. Leanne was waiting in our hotel lobby before we got down from our room to start our day. Communication before the trip was also quick and responsive. Leanne was very informative and prepared for all the sites and historical information that our family asked questions about. Every stop along the way was a Jem. From ... natural beauty, to historical interests, to wildlife sightings and everything Australia has to offer! What an amazing 2-day tour! Leanne was prepared, very intuitive as to what we liked and didn't like, adjusted the timing as needed, and full of information. It was such a treat to be able to enjoy the great ocean road from her point of view but also without having to do the driving. I would strongly recommend Leanne as your tour guide.
My wife and I just had wonderful and memorable experience for my 60th birthday. She was very kind, generous, attentive and polite person with extensive knowledge of the sites and her strong local connection. We felt safe and relaxed all the way. Her drive is very much careful and so smooth as well. Though I am in a wheelchair, she listened my needs in advance communication, the tour was so smooth and comfortable as well.
