You will go a long way to find a bigger fan of Melbourne than yours truly. Born and bred here and aside from a few years working in London and Edinburgh I have spent my whole life in Melbourne. My career as a storyteller began as a journalist and communications specialist working in both commercial and not for profit sectors. I have mainly worked in the sports sector - consulting for Tennis Australia, Cricket Australia, the Australian Football League and running marketing and customer experience at Flemington Racecourse and the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where I ran stadium tours and the sports museum. Since 2018 I have been conducting city walking tours and sports-themed tours showcasing Melbourne's amazing and unique sporting precinct and educating and entertaining visitors about the history and cultural significance of sports to this great city. My tours offer a mix of history, humour, entertainment and awe as well as the opportunity to get active and play tennis where the legends of the Australian Open have competed or try out Australia's indigenous football code. The Great Ocean Road and Surf Coast is an area of Victoria that holds many special memories for me. My family and I have been taking our summer holidays on the coast for more than 25 years, we have been members of the Surf Lifesaving Club for many years and it is like a second home to me. I am an avid ocean swimmer and hiker and have trekked the Great Ocean Walk a number of times. I offer a unique Great Ocean Road tour that ensures you have a personalised and immersive experience that will live long in your memory. Overview of your Melbourne tour
Get a good look at the sporty side of Melbourne on this half day tour, including a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). You and your group will meet at Fed Square, then head to Birrarung Marr and walk along the river to Rod Laver Arena for tennis history, Melbourne & Olympic Park, AAMI Park for soccer and rugby, and finally at the MCG for a guided tour. This tour and the MCG in particular is very special to me. It is the home of my football team, my first job (kitchen hand in the Long Room!), where I sold my unofficial football fanzines for 10 years, where I first spotted my future wife (true story), in later years working for the MCC where I led the customer experience team and, of course, the scene of much emotion and many tears watching my team win Grand Finals with my beautiful family. I have many fond memories that I love to share with global visitors and give you a glimpse into the connection that millions of Melburnians and I have with this stadium and sporting precinct.
