Hi! I'm Barbara and I've been working as a Professional tour guide in Ushuaia since 2002. Ever since I was a teenager I wanted to be a tour guide. I love meeting new people and being able to share part of my culture and history. I studied in Buenos Aires and graduated as a Tour guide in the year 2000. After doing a master's degree in Spain I came back to Argentina and decided I didn't want to live in a big city anymore. So I chose Ushuaia as my new home, and moved here in 2002. I soon started working for a local company and after a few years I was hired to work as a trip leader taking American groups to Antarctica and Patagonia. I met my husband in Ushuaia, and we now have two little girls who share our passion for nature. Working as a tour guide is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. I'm very passionate about my country, and love to talk about anything passengers are interested in. I'm very friendly and knowledgeable about my city, our traditions and history and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you. As every person is different and has different interests, I'm more than willing to organize the kind of tour you need, so don't hesitate and ask! Overview of your Ushuaia tour

Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaia particularly were difficult to populate mostly for its location and weather. There were many attempts to bring Argentinians down to Ushuaia and one of them was the creation of a Penal Colony in the late 1800s. Did you know prisoners built most of it? And did you know that as there is not a lot of native wildlife many animal species were introduced in the area around the 40s and 50s? During our tour you will discover which ones and learn about the impact they had on this fragile environment. I'm very passionate about my city and enjoy sharing all my knowledge with my travelers. So come and join me on this trips that combines both history and nature as you will learn about the beginnings of the city and we will drive through one of the most spectacular areas with jagged mountains and amazing lakes. WOW! Amazing from start to finish. In an 8 hour she introduced me to magic and beauty of this place (many locals only spots). Mate sipped by a remote lake, the National Park, the town. The best part was a real dialogue about the history, the politics, the juxtaposition of the remote south with Buenos Aires. Barbara speaks English like it is her first language and the conversation was effortless ... including time for silence to enjoy everything we saw. I cannot say enough. Do yourself a favor. Book it!!

Our group of six was so glad that Barb was our guide and Pablo our driver for this tour. They did a great job of showing us the beautiful countryside of Ushuaia! Barb was so knowledgeable answering any questions we had. We stopped by a lake for tea and snacks provided by her. Barbara stepped in at the last minute as our ship arrived several days early. Yet she gave us a fantastic, relaxing, memorable tour of the Andes lakes near Ushuaia. She was a joy to spend the day with, easygoing yet very knowledgeable. Overall she gave us exactly what we wanted - a magnificent scenic tour in the mts. without the hordes of tourists. The lakeside picnic she provided of mate tea and biscuits was a special touch. We would recommend her as a guide to absolutely anyone. A perfect day!

Excellent tour through parts of Ushuaia and then to Lakes. Barbara was very knowledgeable on the history, geology and animal biology of the area. Plus a great person for a good conversation. We especially enjoyed a brief dog sled ride but opportunities were also available for snow mobile and snow shoeing. Highly recommended.
