Hi I'm Nicolas. I was born in Ushuaia in 1985 and I grew up exploring with my family and friends the wonderful nature of this area in every possible way: hiking, climbing, skiing, sailing, kayaking, camping, etc. I also have been guiding since I'm 17 years old. This is about the same time when I started my guiding studies in the local university (Universidad de Tierra del Fuego). I chose the outdoors guiding as my profession because it is a great pleasure and a real passion for me to be the link between the nature and our visitors. Nico is a fabulous tour guide. His knowledge of Tierra del Fuego is outstanding. He is the nicest and most engaging guy. Nico picked up our group of 6 in a wonderful van with a driver and helped us move our luggage and get us checked in at the cruise office before our 4 day trip on the Australis. We spent a wonderful day with Nico and recommend him most highly - he knows his stuff!
We had a wonderful time exploring "the End of the World", Tierra del Fuego. Nicolas is a very knowlwdgeable guide and was quite pleaseant to our group. He even treated us to a lakeside picnic with pastries baked by his wife. An unforgettable treat.
Nicolas was an excellent guide as he and the driver ensured that our experience was first class. We (group of 8) took the tour to the Tierra del Fuego national park and Nicolas helped us with everything including purchasing train tickets to the end of the world. Nicolas was fantastic. The day we arrived it was drizzly and he was able to change the itinerary immediately to suit the weather. Gave us additional touring options to consider. Very knowledgeable about local fauna, geography, history, a good communicator. On a tea break, he introduced us to "mate" (an Argentinian herbal tea brew) and a super delicious coconut-dulce de leche tart. We (a party of six, including my 84 years old mother) couldn't ask for more.
The tour starts departing from your hotel or cruise ship in Ushuaia and heading towards Tierra del Fuego National Park while learning about the history of this city and the local culture. Before entering the park stop at some scenic view points, and once in the park visit the main attractions being: - Zaratiegui Bay - End of the World Post Office - Acigami Lake (also called Roca) - Lapataia Bay - End of the panamerican highway). During the visit to the park have the chance to take some easy walks to get closer to the nature of the area. This tour can be combined with a tour on the Train at the End of the World. This historical train was inspired by a train used by the prisoners of a Penal Colony funded in Ushuaia in the late 1800's. This is a nice relaxed way to enter or exit the park, specially if your group doesn't walk much.
