Hello friends, and a warm welcome to Belfast—a city that truly offers something for everyone. I’m Thomas, a fully qualified tour guide and proud member of both Visit Belfast and Tour Guides NI. I’m delighted to be part of the ToursByLocals community, sharing the magic of Ireland’s towns and cities with visitors from all over the world. At 39, I’m not only passionate about guiding, but also a proud father to my three amazing children: Ruby, Thomas, and Rosie. My love for Ireland runs deep—from exploring its vibrant cities and hidden gems to immersing myself in the sounds of traditional Irish music. I’m also an avid sports fan, enjoying everything from hurling and Gaelic football to soccer and golf. Food and culture play a big part in my life too, and I’m always excited to try new cuisines and meet people from every corner of the globe. Each summer, my family and I escape to the wild beauty of County Donegal—my favourite of Ireland’s 32 counties. I also hold a special affection for the stunning Antrim Coast and the world-famous Giant’s Causeway, with its rugged scenery, ancient castles, and Game of Thrones filming locations. And on clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of Scotland across the Irish Sea! Tourism has always been my greatest passion. In 2021, I completed an intensive course in tourism and hospitality, which not only deepened my knowledge but also introduced me to lifelong friends and hidden treasures throughout Belfast—stories and places I now love to share with my guests. I was born and raised in West Belfast, an area steeped in history and community spirit. I’ve witnessed its remarkable transformation from the difficult days of the 70s 80s 90s to the peaceful & vibrant, welcoming neighbourhood it is today. The streets are alive with colourful murals and street art, turning the area into an open-air gallery that tells the story of our past and our hopes for the future. Belfast itself is a thriving city of culture, learning, and tourism. Within just a three-mile radius, we have three universities with around 70,000 students, over 40 new hotels, countless bars and restaurants, museums, distilleries and so much more. Whether you’re here for championship golf, the rich history of the city, or the dramatic beauty of the Antrim Coast, there’s truly something for everyone.
