Being an Austrian-American in the beautiful city of Vienna and sharing its beauty and fascinating history with you turns out to be my true calling in life. I have been a private tour guide for over 12 years and I passionately love my job! I was born and raised in Vienna where I also attended Vienna University (Associate Degree in Tourism and PhD in Linguistics). After graduating I had a very fun job, I worked as a flight attendant for Austrian Airlines. I really got infected with the travel bug, and also learned that I thrive when working in an international environment. On one of my trips I met my husband and moved to Los Angeles. America became a second home to my two twin children and myself. We are all US citizens aswell as Austrian citizens. I even went to school in Los Angeles and finished a graphic design degree at UCLA. Sadly many years ago I became widowed and my kids and I moved back to my beloved city of Vienna where I went to school again to become a certified Austrian tour guide - a demanding training of about 2 years. When it comes to my tours my top priority is to give you the most memorable experience possible in whatever time frame we have. I will show you the most important, and also the most charming parts of the city and instruct you on the sites and the history of Vienna. My tours are (hopefully) interesting, informative and humorous. I LOVE history, I have a profound interest in the rise of the house of Habsburg, its downfall after World War I, Austria's dark path leading to National Socialism and World War II. I am interested and quite knowledgeable about Jewish history in Vienna, starting in the Middle Ages, the dark years in Austrian history and the contemporary discussion of art restitution. As a mother of 16 year old twins I have a good amount of experience what kids and young adults like and what they find rather boring, please check out my "Kids Foodie and Fun Tour"! This tour is the perfect introduction into Vienna's history and culture! We will set out by foot to explore the stunning sites of the inner city, like the State Opera, Imperial Palace and St. Stephan Cathedral. Then our driver will pick us up and we will see famous Ring Street and pass our highly recommended Naschmarket - Farmers Market. Then we move on to wonderful Schönbrunn castle, the former summer palace of the Habsburg family. I will give you a tour inside the castle and tell you everything about the Habsburgs, their raise to power and their sad end in 1918. There will also be time to experience the fantastic baroque gardens inspired by Versailles Palace. Looking forward to seeing you on my Grand Sightseeing Tour!

My wife and I travel extensively, and we must have participated in over 100 tours over the course of our married life. Having said that, Susanne's tour of Vienna ranks among our top five favorite tours. Susanne possesses all of the qualities that we would want in a guide. First of all, she is extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Vienna and provided detailed answers to all of our questions. Second, she presents information in an interesting, passionate, and well-organized manner. Third, she is an interesting, highly educated and worldly person who can speak about many topics outside of her area of expertise. Last but not least, she is a delightful person whose company my wife and I enjoyed greatly. Although we have never returned to the same travel destination, we would return to Vienna in order to take another tour with Susanne.
Susanne is terrific. We had an exceptional tour, and I would recommend her again and again. She makes history fun , is incredibly knowledgeable and learned, she is flexible and open to lots of questions and discussion. She’s fun to be with and accommodating .
