An insider's look at Canada's most military city

For 250 years, Halifax has played a central role in the defence of Canada. With more service members per capita than any other Canadian city, Halifax's military character is obvious. We will explore Halifax's military history in depth by visiting museums, historic sites and fortifications. Our exact route and itinerary will vary, but points of interest will typically include:

- Maj-Gen Robert Ross grave and Sebastopol Monument
- St. Paul's Anglican Church
- Army Museum at Halifax Citadel
- Naval Museum at Admiralty House
- Shearwater Aviation Museum in Dartmouth
- Deadman's Island (War of 1812)
- York Redoubt fortifications

- Old Burying Ground
- St. Paul's Anglican Church
- Halifax Citadel
- Army Museum at Halifax Citadel
- Naval Museum at Admiralty House
- Shearwater Aviation Museum in Dartmouth (optional)
- York Redoubt fortifications
- Deadman's Island park

Additional sites and attractions may be visited, time permitting.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: Meeting location is flexible. If arriving by cruise ship, exit the terminal and cross the roadway where the tour buses are lined up. I will be waiting in the parking lot with a yellow "Coastline Custom Tours" sign. If you don't see me, look for a black minivan with the same sign in the front window.

Remember that all times quoted are Halifax local (Atlantic) time -- one hour earlier than Eastern time. If you are a group on a cruise ship, please try to meet up on board your vessel and disembark together.

End location: You will be returned to the meeting location. An alternate drop-off point can also be arranged as per your request.

Duration: 5 hours

The start time can be changed according to the clients' wishes.

My 2015 Town & Country minivan accommodates up to six passengers.

A Recent Review of this tour

Jay was knowledgeable & personable. We felt like we were being shown Halifax by a friend, not a tour guide. His SUV was clean & comfortable, with the best tasting water provided. Jay invited us to help determine what we would see based on our interests. Even though we booked a four hour tour, we were with Jay for 30 minutes extra. With rush hour traffic, we fell behind schedule, but Jay is a man of his word & made sure that we saw all that we had agreed upon. We highly recommend using Jay as a guide
