Welcome to our metropolis in the desert! This is a great introduction to the area, and is one of my most requested tours. Spread across almost 75 miles/120km East - West and North - South, there are many things to see and do here all year. We'll review the rich history of Phoenix & Arizona on our way into Downtown Phoenix, catching the highlights of our beautiful land. We'll proceed to the State Capitol area featuring memorials from the USS Arizona from Pearl Harbor viewable either from the vehicle or via short stroll. Our tour concludes with a stop at Papago Park/Phoenix Zoo/Desert Botanical Gardens area - (Great views of the Valley from this location for pictures!) before going to Old Town Scottsdale to view the shopping/eating & break for food or a more local location if you prefer.

We will depart Phoenix/Scottsdale and head north to the beautiful city of Sedona.
Sedona is known for it's stunning scenery, quaint shops, native jewelry, unique art galleries and great food and wine opportunities. Sedona is also known for it's positive spiritual energy. After some photo ops and a brief look around, we will head to lunch at my favorite restaurant, The Hudson. Outstanding food and service, incredible setting and views, outdoor seating when appropriate and an excellent wine list. Specializing in salads, sandwiches and award winning burgers.
After lunch, a few more breathtaking photos and it's time to head to Arizona's wine country. Yes, Arizona has wineries! Several wineries dot the hills of Northern Arizona. We can try a few or stop and relax under a tree next to a creek at Page Springs Cellars. These vineyards started in 2004 and are now producing some very good wine. Page Springs Cellars creates almost 100% of their energy.

The Apache Trail is not a walking trail but one of Americas most scenic roads. This tour can be done as a half day or a full day. This mountain road is just a few miles out of Phoenix/Scottsdale and winds through The Superstition Mountains. You will see Canyon Lake, a hidden gem just outside Phoenix with boat rentals and daily tours. Goldfield Ghost Town is a genuine gold mining town and a great peek into life in 1881. We will turn around at Tortilla Flat, population 6. There you can try the Prickly Pear ice cream. This tour is a great introduction into The Sonoran Desert, the most biologically diverse desert in the world. You will have opportunities to see Big Horn Sheep, Javelina, raptors and reptiles.
You will also have an option to get out on foot for a short stroll through this beautiful ecosystem if you would like.

2-days to explore the Sedona's stunning red rocks and the majesty of Grand Canyon

This 4-5 hour tour begins with a short drive from Phoenix/Scottsdale to our trailhead in The Superstition Mountains. The "Supes" are full of great geology, history and lore including "The Legend of The Lost Dutchman". Here we have many options from a leisurely stroll to a challenging climb. We will spend a few hours walking through the beautiful Sonoran Desert discussing this unique ecosystem and how the plants and animals survive. The scenery is stunning and the serenity just makes you feel good. This is a true wilderness experience. Everything is included except for your shoes and a hat.

A nice basic overview of one of my favorite drives, AZ-88 was built in 1906 as a supply road during the construction of Roosevelt Dam. The drive features amazing views of mountains, canyons, lakes and is a narrow road that winds through tight turns and ravines. Sights along the route include Lost Dutchman State Park, Superstition Mountain Visitor Center, Goldfield Ghost Town, and Tortilla flat.

Step back into the Old West on this small-group tour. Meet your guide in the morning at your local pickup stop, and head to Tombstone, known for its Wild West history. Visit the O. K. Corral Museum and witness a gunfight reenactment! Here in town you will have ample time to wander the streets. Then a great local lunch is provided. Afterwards we will head down to Bisbee where your group can explore the famed copper town. Finally, stop by Saguaro National Park to admire the Saguaros on the way back to town.

Arizona Day Tour: Tombstone, Historic Ghost Town

Visit Tombstone, Arizona, "The Town Too Tough to Die". Walk Allen Street like its 1880 and see the famous OK Corral, The Birdcage Theatre, The historic Courthouse and walk through Boot Hill Graveyard.
On our way to Tombstone we will make a brief stop just outside of Tucson, Arizona at the "White Dove of the Desert", The San Xavier Mission, founded in 1692. Then onto Boot Hill Graveyard before making it to Allen Street and the historic OK Corral, site of the famous shoot out between Doc Holiday and The Earp brothers against The Clanton brothers. Step back in time and tour the Courthouse Museum, The Birdcage Theatre and have lunch at Big Nose Kate's Saloon, the best Cowboy Bar in the West. There is live entertainment and you can dress up and sit on the piano or get behind the bar for fun photos. This is truly a step back in time.

No trip to Phoenix and the southwest is complete without adventuring north to the Grand Canyon--the most amazing of the 7 natural wonders of the world!

Our trip begins at our designated meeting place and we travel north for 4 hours through the Sonoran Desert and up onto the Colorado Plateau. Once we arrive at the south rim at an elevation of approximately 6, 500 feet, we will begin our exploration of this majestic landscape.

As this is a private tour, your trip will be tailored to your desired level of activity as well as your primary interests. Photos from rim view points, hiking along the rim, shopping and exploring Grand Canyon village, and even hiking into the canyon are all options.

Having led tours to the Grand Canyon for over 10 years, I have an intimate and extensive knowledge of the area. Because the overnight adventure is a day longer than the escape, we will have the time to explore more of the canyon and believe me, there is plenty to discover. So if you have the time it's totally worth it!
