I am originally from France, having immigrated to the US in 1984 when I was 17. I moved to New York City in 2002 to go to graduate school to study sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I fell in love with the city, and have been living here ever since. I am currently a Brooklyn-based artist whose work uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts such as knitting, crochet and lace. I make large-scale installations using plastic and detritus as the main materials, and drawing on community-engagement and performance as a major component of the work. I taught as an adjunct professor at Wagner College on Staten Island, (drawing, sculpture, and public art) until 2020. My passion is art, and I want to share my love of New York City through all the wonderful public art that you can see around the city. I will show you iconic New York, and some hidden treasures for a memorable experience. New York City Sight Seeing License Master of Fine Arts - Sculpture. New York Academy of Art, New York, NY

As an artist and art professor, I will give the group a short and simple drawing lesson to help you make the most out of this experience. I will show you how to use. . . a skewer to make an accurate drawing. This basic lesson made artists of all my students! We will head out to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we can draw from the medieval Arms and Armour collection, the European sculpture gallery, the Asian Wing, or the American Wing courtyard. What we draw will be tailored to the group's interests, so please do not hesitate to email me about your interests, and I will find the perfect spot for you. Please note that there is a $25 admission to the museum for non-residents of New York. Art supplies will be provided (sketch books, pencils, ink pens). Also note that advance tickets are required for outside groups to the Met, so it is recommended you book the tour 5 to 7 days in advance if possible. Alternatively, we can draw at the Museum of Natural History or Central Park, weather permitting.
I will meet you at your hotel, and I will give you a drawing lesson (about 30 minutes). This will help you relax about making art, and you will learn good techniques to make a successful drawing. If you have never drawn before, do not worry! This will be a fun experience, and you will surprise yourself. My students, who are not art students, improved dramatically during my classes. . . so you will be in good hands! At the Met, I suggest going to one of the following galleries, because they are usually less crowded, have comfortable sitting areas, and have very interesting art to draw: - The Ming Scholar Garden (my #1 recommendation) - The Asian wing galleries - The European sculpture courtyard - The American Wing sculpture courtyard If you have any special interest or have a particular style of artwork you want to see and draw, please email me and let me know. My tours can be customized. Currently, the museum takes timed entry with advance reservations only. Email me before booking the tour!

I will meet you at your hotel and we will either walk or take the subway to the Met. Please note the subway fare is $2.75 one way (subway+free transfer to bus) During the tour, we will mostly sit in a spot we like and draw. There will be some walking to different galleries if we choose to draw different styles of artwork.
1000 5th Avenue, New York, New York, 10028, United States
I can either meet you at your hotel, and we will travel by subway to the Met. Or we can meet in front of the Met museum, at the corner of 5th Ave and 82nd St (on the same side as the museum)
