Hello, I'm Beth, a long-term Upper West Side resident and a New York City history lover. The city's history is my passion and to this day I continually learn fascinating tidbits about my home. Thanks to my work both as an employee of the Central Park Conservancy and as a volunteer, I am a Central Park specialist, but beyond that, I lead tours all over the city, including Grand Central Terminal, Upper West Side & Downtown. I also conduct bird watching and bus tours. My interests are quite eclectic: the Gilded Age, bird watching, film, theater, live music, architecture, and more. Overview of your New York City tour
Central Park is one of those places that constantly appears in films and TV shows. It's also an important part of the lives of the people who live in the city. I've lived near the park for my entire time here and it's filled me with all kinds of wonderful experiences like birdwatching, jogging, and simply enjoying fresh air and peace of mind in the hectic city. I was a Central Park Conservancy employee and volunteer for several years so I have an authentic insider's perspective that will enhance and inform your own visit. On this tour, you'll visit all of the iconic spots of the park near midtown, including movie sites! Central Park was designed for the visitor to lose their way (it is an adventure, after all) but, with me, your adventure will be confusion-free. You'll be awed by its natural splendour and impressed by unknown tales of the impact the park had on the city and its people. Join me for an enchanting experience in Central Park, where the magic of the silver screen meets real life.
Your New York City tour itinerary
(Along this itinerary, we'll see filiming locations of scenes from films like Home Alone 2, Enchanted, Elf, The Avengers, & Fantastic Beasts). -Once we've met at the General Sherman statue on 59th Street (adjacent to the park) we'll proceed to the Pond where a famous scene from Home Alone 2 was filmed at. -Next, we'll move on to Wollman Skating Rink and the Dairy. -Then it's on to the Mall and Literary Walk, the park's only formal promenade. -We'll then stroll on to the iconic Bethesda Terrace & Angel of the Waters Fountain. -Ramble woodland will be next, a dramatic change of scenery. -Later, Bow Bridge will take us over the 20 acre Lake. -Our tour will end at the Strawberry Fields John Lennon memorial & the Dakota apartment building. -At the end of the tour, I'll be happy to advise you on restaurant options if you desire, since I'm very acquainted with dining options in my Upper West Side neighborhood. This itinerary is customizable; visits to additional places may easily be built into your tour.
