This walking tour will explore the oft-ignored history and architecture of The Bronx. This borough contains the city's largest collection of Art Deco residential buildings. Discover these unique buildings on a walking tour of a stunning historic district! I truly love Art Deco design and architecture and love to help visitors to our city, or even locals, discover the city's many buildings in this style. I created this tour to show you what I think are the best such buildings in the Bronx, and to give you details and insight into each. The tour will meet by historic Yankee Stadium, the Bronx's most famous icon. From there we will meander through the streets and discuss the borough's unique history, and see the area's beautiful architecture. Learn of the grand plans by a French architect for a Champs-Élysées style boulevard in the Bronx, and a wave of amazing Art Deco architecture it brought with it. Looking forward to showing you the beauty of the Bronx!

This was a fun and informative tour of an area of residential Art Deco architecture I would not have seen otherwise. The guide kept a good pace, and we saw a variety of buildings, including a couple lobbies. Recommended.

Along our journey down the Grand Concourse and its surrounding streets, we will see numerous deco buildings, inside and out. Our stops will include: -Park Plaza apartments -The Fish Building -888 Grand Concourse -Bronx Supreme Court Building -And several more deco buildings! - 'Joker Stairs': an old neighborhood icon made famous made by the 2019 film, "The Joker" -See the Andrew Freeman Home: a historic building constructed for Andrew Freedman that has been renovated into an artists' hub -Grand Concourse: the grand boulevard of the Bronx! -Yankee Stadium: tour begins and ends near this legendary baseball site This will be a moderate walk covering a tight area. Exact route can be customized depending on other sites you want to visit after the tour, such as the Bronx Museum of the Arts or others.
