Atlanta 101

A half day (approximately four hours) introduction to Atlanta. This is a driving tour with some good walking stops at some of Atlanta's most important and iconic sights. Perfect for first-time visitors who want to get their bearings and fall in love with the city and for long-time ATLiens who want a deeper understanding of this amazing city. This tour explores the heart of soul of Atlanta as the birthplace of so much of the Civil Rights Movement. You'll see where Dr. King was born and raised and where he rests in power today. You'll also get to dig in a little deeper to Atlanta via the Krog Street Tunnel, the Beltline, hip and colorful Cabbagetown, arts in Midtown, the wealth of Buckhead, and finally, you'll see, from the 72nd floor, why Atlanta is knows as "the city in the forest."

I will pick you up at your home, hotel, or vacation rental in my comfortable Ford Maverick Hybrid and we’ll head to Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood. Located just east of downtown, Sweet Auburn is the historic heart and soul of Atlanta. We'll explore the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Park and stop at the Visitor Center, the childhood home of Dr. King, Ebenezer Baptist Church, the King Center, and the King tomb. From Sweet Auburn, we’ll head over to historic, hip, and colorful Cabbagetown and take a look at the locally famous Krog Street Tunnel and take a quick stroll on the Atlanta Beltline. We’ll have a couple of fun lunch options (price of lunch not included). Next up is Midtown, which to Atlanta locals, is more downtown than Downtown, we’ll see the fabulous Fox Theatre, Atlanta’s “gayborhood,” and the High Museum at Arts District Plaza. Finally, we’ll head downtown for a bird’s eye view of ALL of metro Atlanta from the 72nd floor of The Westin Peachtree Plaza.
