My name is Joe and I truly love living here and showing it all off to friends, visitors, brand-new Georgians, lifetime Georgians, and soon-to-be Georgians. My tours are centered around history, nature, and culture, and all with a perspective that Georgia’s future is so bright because of our incredible diversity, vibrant communities, thriving arts scenes, and breathtaking natural beauty and that we’re here because of the strengths and struggles of those who fought for a brighter future. I’ve been obsessed with learning forever and I hold a master’s degree in Comparative Sociology and a graduate certificate in Education from Florida International University. I’ve been sharing Atlanta’s popular sights and hidden treasures for nearly two decades and I never get tired of seeing peoples’ preconceived ideas about Georgia change and expand. It really is an amazing place to discover. Private, small-group tours through metro Atlanta and beyond, digging into the history, nature, and culture that make this place tick, all through a local lens and with a progressive heart. Whether you're visiting for the first time and want the real Atlanta, you've lived here for years and are ready to fall in love with your city all over again, or you're about to move and need a neighborhood-by-neighborhood tour to find exactly where you belong: I've got you covered. So, let’s get you better acquainted with the Capital of the South!

See the rainbow side of Atlanta's history as the queer capital of the South. Atlanta has one of the most vibrant and significant LGBTQ+ communities in the country. This tour celebrates the people, places, and stories that made Atlanta a beacon of progress and pride. We'll start where Atlanta starts - the Sweet Auburn neighborhood and the Jazz Age. We'll visit Piedmont Park and the "gayborhoods" of Midtown and the Instragram-able rainbow crosswalks and explore Decatur - the hometown of Michael Stipe and the Indigo Girls.
I will pick you up at your home, hotel, or vacation rental in my comfortable Ford Maverick Hybrid and we’ll head to Atlanta’s historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood to learn about what was happening pre-Stonewall. Located just east of downtown, Sweet Auburn is the historic heart and soul of Atlanta. From Sweet Auburn, we'll head to Atlanta's LGBT-welcoming small town, Decatur. Known for decades as the home to the South's largest and most visible lesbian community, we'll talk about the Indigo Girls, Agnes Scott College, and we'll visit the South's landmark feminist / queer Charis Books & More. Then, we'll head to Atlanta's longstanding "gayborhoods" in Midtown and learn about Atlanta's Stonewall which sparked the modern LGBT movement in the South. We’ll have a couple of fun lunch options (price of lunch not included) and end with some community supporting shopping!
