What a wonderful 2023 it has been sharing my homeland with travellers from all over the world. I am a true Northern Irish person born and bred here and delighted to share my homeland with you. I am a local accredited guide experienced in working as a step-on-guide for visiting coaches to the top attractions namely Belfast City (warts and all), Giants Causeway, Antrim Coast, Armagh - St Patrick's chosen city and more! I am a country girl living on a working farm with my husband and enjoy traditional cooking using local produce. Love rural traditions, folklore and music and enjoy an odd glass of Guinness! Love to travel "off the beaten track" and step into those parts of Ulster where the landscape is dominated with small working farms and traditional villages. A great opportunity to meet the locals and enjoy homemade food. These hidden places also reveal much of our Celtic heritage with tranquil standing stones and hill forts dotted all around. Knowing the countryside and its past allows us to enjoy a stroll down some of the narrow lanes leading to pre-famine tumble down homesteads. Irish Linen is still manufactured locally here - more automated than in 19th century but still a well sought after cloth in use today on many dining room tables. Having lived through "the troubles" of Northern Ireland many visitors are keen to follow the colourful politics of this land through the modern picture books - wall murals. Overview of your Belfast tour
Excited to take you out of the City and into my County Armagh where I grew up! Just approx one hour away from the City of Belfast the seasonal time of beauty with the May blossom of the orchards OR opt for Sept, Oct, Nov for orchards in fruit! We'll tour the lanes around the orchards as I share the history of this "plantation" area and most certainly the dedicated work of the apple farmers as they prepare their apple trees to produce this regionally recognised Armagh Bramley Apple unique to this area - nowhere else in Ireland! We make a short stop in the conservation village of Loughgall and enjoy the history of this quaint plantation village once home to the Cope family in 17th century. Stop off in the pretty historical plantation village of Richhill and savour locally award winning local cider with lunch in the village pub. Free time after lunch to wander this small village and learn about the origins of its 17th century Castle before you return back to your hotel/ship.
Your Belfast tour itinerary
9 am Pick up from Belfast Port 9 - 12 noon Guided Tour route around the rural orchards public roads with a drive through a friendly farmer's private orchard road. Learn about the landed gentry who settled here and built their fine stately homes. 12 - 2 pm Light lunch using local ingredients with tastings of award winning local cider in a nearby village pub. 2 - 4 pm Continue the tour through this family farming region on our way back to Belfast.
