The Medina of Tunis - Private Walking Tour

Come on this cultural tour along the streets of Medina where we'll see stunning architecture, from old houses to interesting landmarks. Get immersed in a beautiful mixture of cultures as we travel through our history, from ancient times to the Ottoman Era, the Medina of Tunis is an open museum. Walking through the streets of the medina, I will talk about stories I know of that involve local families so you get an authentic notion of how life is here. We will also be coming across different people and see artisans working, who'll talk about their origins and their life with us. If you'd like to, we could have a short break and sit in a traditional coffee shop and mingle with the locals there, before we continue strolling and discovering more places and monuments. I'll also be telling you about important historical events happened in some areas of the Medina.

·Starting from the French Quarter, we'll visit the Opera house built in 1902, with Art nouveau style. ·Then it's on to 1980's french catholic Cathedral of Tunis. ·Next we'll head to "the Medina" (old city) to see artisans working and visit some souk the gold and silver souk , the tunisian traditional hat souk called "Chaouchia " , the traditional shoes souk , called the "Blaghjia souk" . ·We'll then reach Medina's residential area and pass by old houses, plus visit one of the most beautiful ones called "Dar Lasram". ·Next, we'd visit a mausoleum like "Sidi Ibrahim Eriahi " to admire its stunning architecture. ·Then we'd also see old schools called Medressa: either Or "Bir el Hjar" Madressa or the one called "Soulaymania". ·Next, we'll visit the The Jewish quarter inside the Medina called "el Hafssia" , where I'll share some beautiful stories of the cohabitation between Jewsh, Christians & Muslims. ·At last we'll pass by old Foundouks & coffee shops like el Mourabet", the oldest one in the arab world.
