Your adventure in Tunisia is not complete without visiting the majestic Roman site of Dougga. Here you will visit what are widely held to be the best ruins in my country. On this tour I will show you my favourite World Heritage site in Tunisia. You will admire the Roman theatre, the Temple of Augustan Piety, the Capitol, the terraced Baths, the Punico-Lybian Mausoleum, the Temple of Celestis. We will also visit the monumental fountain in Zaghouan, built in the 2nd century. In this site, I will make you feel that you are literally walking in the footsteps of people who lived here two thousand years ago, as you stroll through the stone-paved streets, flanked by impressive buildings. If you're looking for a great discovery and for a truly unique experience, my tour is the best option for you. You will have time to properly make all visits on a relaxed pace and we will have time for a coffee-break and pictures.
- 08:30 pick up from your hotel of stay. - Arrive to Dougga and visit what are widely held to be the best ruins in all of Tunisia. Dougga, or Thugga, was inscribed on the World Heritage list. - Visit will feature the sights including the Roman theatre built in the Greek style. - Visit the Temple of Augustan Piety. - Visit the Capitol; a temple-like public building featuring impressive monolithic columns. - Visit the terraced Baths. - Visit the Punico-Lybian Mausoleum. - Visit the Temple of Celestis. - Lunch in Dougga. - Departure to Zaghouan. - Visit the monumental fountain, built in the 2nd century by order of Hadrian, and that filtered the spring water before it entered the aqueduct for its 80-mile journey to Carthage. - End of the tour, transfer back to your hotel of stay.
