My name is Karin. I am German and I came to Granada as a language student in 1994. I wanted to improve my Spanish at the University of Granada after a first professional education in Germany. I fell in love with this country and especially with the South of Spain, Andalusia. It is very rich in history and culture. I decided to stay and to study Tourism in Granada and Seville. At the same time, I began to work as a tour guide for cultural groups throughout Spain. I started guiding in Andalusia but soon I worked in other areas in Spain. I am a very curious person, I love to read and I was always interested in the history of persons, places and the way of life of the people. I have a guiding experience of more than 20 years. Up to the present moment I have done a lot of different tours, like tours with the historic Al-Andalus train throughout Spain, religious groups, pilgrimage tours to the tomb of Saint Jacob in Santiago de Compostela, incentive tours, gastronomic tours, botanical tours, etc. That's still part of my professional life. And as I love to do different tours and themes, I can look over a rich variety of knowledge and experience. This country offers an amazing variety of activities, culture and nature. Since 2015 I got the license as a local guide for Andalusia. That's the reason why I work more and more in Granada and its province. This area is a place of great historical and cultural interest, a real melting point of different races and cultures. I would like to share my fascination and impressions with you. I can offer different tours, stressing on different themes and visiting different places in Granada and its province. I can adapt it to your wishes. I combine my experience as a tour leader throughout Spain with my deep knowledge about local places and topics. I am convinced that it is a great advantage for you. Overview of your Granada tour
Do you like Spanish litterature? I recommend you to read poems and plays of Federico Garcia Lorca. They give you a good idea of how live was at the beginning of the 20 th century. Federico Garcia Lorca was one of the most outstanding authors and born in a village near by Granada. In his work he refers often to his hometown where he spent his youth, received great part of his education and where he died tragically. I offer a tour where I recreate the atmosphere of the interesting intelectual scene and the difficult political situation in which the poet lived. Granada was during the beginning of the 20th century a place to be for intellectuels from different countries. Lorca knew them and invited them . During the tour we will see the most important places related to his live in Granada. Although Lorca spent great part of his short live outside of Granada he always came back to see his family. Our tour will end at the cultural center of the poet, where they guard today his important legacy.
Your Granada tour itinerary
- Start at the Fuente de Batallas square. The itineray is more or less biographical. Here are the first houses were Lorca lived. Introduction and recreation of the area - Walk through the city center visiting places that Lorca new and were he met his friends. - We visit the University of Granada as Lorca studied here. - We visit the entrance of the nowadays hotel which belonged to a wellknown family at that time. It was the last hiding place for Lorca before his capture. - We end our walk in the Lorca Center, which is promoting the work of the poet and which guards the important legacy of him.
