Velkommen til Bergen! My name is Chloé and I’ve been working as an Authorized Bergen Guide since 2016. French, born and raised in Normandy, I discovered Norway in autumn 2007, at a student conference held in Trondheim. During the next 2 years, I returned for internships as part of my studies, both in Trondheim and in Bergen. By that time, I was hooked! I have a master’s degree in Geosciences and another one in Reservoir Engineering. I moved from France to Bergen in January 2010 and started my (short) career as a geophysicist. After 6 years spent doing various types of modeling and acquiring data at sea, I decided to end this chapter and move on. In 2016, after an intensive training, I became a French and English-speaking tour guide for a local agency. At the same time, I started teaching French as a foreign language to adults. I set up my own business in 2023 for my activities as a guide and French teacher. I find Bergen to be THE perfect place to live in and to visit, so I want to share with you my love for this city! As a former capital of the country, founded over 950 years ago, walking the streets of Bergen is like going through a history book. I’ll take you to the passageways of the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic district of Bryggen as well as other historical sites. Being the second largest city in Norway, you will find everything you need in Bergen: museums and cultural activities, bakeries and restaurants, shopping centers and local artisans. I’ll update you on the different events happening during your stay and give you some personal recommendations. I’m very fond of good food so I’ll share with you the best places to get seafood, a reindeer hot-dog, a hot chocolate or an ice-cream! At the same time, Bergen’s city center is relatively small which means that most places are within walking distance. My favorite part of a tour is strolling in the old cobblestone streets, where residential areas with traditional wooden houses make you feel all the small-town charm Bergen has to offer. Last but not least, Bergen is surrounded by amazing nature! Bergen is known as the city of 7 mountains, and I think that discovering Bergen through a hike is a unique experience as well as a great way to get amazing views of the area. If you prefer swimming, I can recommend some mountain lakes, outdoor swimming pools and saunas. When you visit Norway - and in particular Bergen - discovering the fjords is a must. Using public transportation (boat, train and/or bus), I’ll show you breathtaking landscapes to make this trip the most unforgettable one. Whether you are passionate about history, architecture or street art, all city walks I provide are adjusted to your preferences. Taking the funicular up to mount Fløyen can easily be added to any tour. Contact me for a tailor-made visit of Bergen and its surroundings!

When you visit Norway - and in particular Bergen - discovering the fjords is a must. The best way to do so is by boat. Sail through the Osterfjord towards Modalen, Norway's second smallest municipality. The boat slows down to pass Mostraumen Strait and brings us as close as possible to waterfalls and the steep sides of the fjord. This is the perfect cruise to discover a fjord in just a few hours. The boat leaves Bergen harbour at 10.00AM and will be back between 1.00PM and 1.30PM. From April to September, it is possible to do this cruise in the afternoon: the boat then leaves Bergen harbour at 2.00PM and will be back between 5.00PM and 5.30PM. N.B.: the afternoon departure is ONLY available in summer (April-September) If you wish to personalize this experience, please do not hesitate to let me know!
Our cruise will allow us to see the following places: - Bryggen, the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic district - Bergenhus fortress complex, former residence of the King - many small and larger settlements - Osterøy, Northern Europe's largest inland island - the Osterfjord - several waterfalls - Mostraumen Strait - Mo, small village at the very end of the fjord.

We will take a comfortable and modern boat from Rødne Fjord Cruise company. The boats have plenty of space both outside and inside. I recommend wearing warm clothes if you want to enjoy the view from the upper deck.
Shetlands-larsens Brygge, Bergen, Norway
We will meet at Shetlands-Larsens Brygge pier by Bergen's fish market, where this round trip departs. I can meet you at your hotel / accommodation if it is located in the city center.
