Welcome to Bergen! I am a Private Guide that offers Private Tours all over Bergen. Bergen is a city I welcome in my life, always! Come rain or come shine :) I was born and raised in Bergen. Bergen is known as a City of Culture as well as Gateway to the Fjords. I have International experience from working for SAS, Scandinavian Airlines, several years. I am also an Authorized Bergen Guide and Oslo Guide, and speak English fluently. Presently I love to walk around Bergen while taking you to the historic sites and telling about the city's fascinating history. A walking tour may also include a ride with the Funicular, Floibanen, up mount Floien for a great view of Bergen and it's surroundings. A short walk or hike on mount Floien is an option. Among my other favourites are visits to Troldhaugen, the home of composer Edvard Grieg, the art museums (Munch and other Norwegian painters), organic bakery (the best "Skillingsbolle" and sandwiches). At the Bergen Aquarium I love watching the feeding of the penguines and sea-lions - they even have tarantulas and anaconda there …. all behind glass; thankfully! Tours can be individually customized. On this tour you get to explore the nature on top of one of Bergen's seven mountains. We start by taking the Funicular to the top of Mount Fløien, 320 m or approx 1000 feet. Floien is accessible by an unnervingly steep and quite thrilling ride on the funicular. The ride takes 6-7 minutes to the top of the mountain. Here you can get a magnificent panorama-view of the city and the surroundings of Bergen. From the top, we will go on a hike to a lake, forests and a typical Norwegian mountain landscape, not to mention a breathtaking view. We will walk down from the mountain and end up back in the city centre. Duration: 3 1/2 hours.
Solveig welcomed us to Bergen and ensured that in our 3 hour tour that we would better understand the history, cultural and economic life and history of the city and region all the while walking to Mount Floren. Soveig was well informed and led us with questions to ponder. There was so much we saw in our short time and sasdly we did not have another day to continue exploring. We would 100% recommend Solveig. We had a wonderful time in our tour with Solveig to the top of Mt. Floyen and back down to the city and the Bergen Wharf. Solveig is very knowledgable and provided both interesting information and fun local stories and lore. We highly recommend her.
Had a wonderful time exploring Bergen with Solveig! She was friendly, knowledgeable and showed us the best of Bergen. We really enjoyed the hike up Mount Floyen, walking around the lake, trying Quick Lunch, and seeing the UNESCO World heritage site. We felt like we truly got to experience Bergen. Would highly recommend!
Solveig met us in our hotel lobby at the scheduled time. She walked us around Bergen, city park, the old houses, the old town hall, etc. She gave us some history of the city and took us up the funicular (included in our cost). We walked around the mountain through the woods & hiked around a small lake, stopping to enjoy a small chocolate treat she brought for us, before walking back into Bergen. She spent more than our allotted time with us and was very pleasant. We would highly recommend Solveig.
Punctuality, flexibility, personality are always good traits in a guide. Solweig demonstrated all three as we arrived in Bergen on time and in good shape but our luggage decided to make an unscheduled stop along the way. She helped us find an appropriate store so we could buy the items necessary for an outside hike since we had not anticipated arriving from Florida with no clothing options. Our hike was informative, relaxing. Solweig provided us with insight to our surroundings and local culture.
Solveig was great! She gave us an exceptional tour of Bergen and Mount Floien. There were 6 of us, and she was very patient with all of our questions and making sure we were all heading in the right direction. Of our 4 tours in Norway, this was everyone's favorite.
