I am an archaeologist and a licensed guide. I grew up on the western slopes of Etna, but in the last years I also lived in different cities of Italy where I studied and worked as archaeologist. I graduated in Humanieties at University of Rome, I hold a specialization in Prehistory at the University of Milan and a PhD at University of Trento where I have been involved in several project about pottery technic production and experimental archaeology. I have a long experience in archaeological excavations in Italy and abroad (Turkey, Switzerland) and in the study of rock art engravings in the first Unesco heritage site of Italy (Valcamonica). I collaborated with several museums, universities and associations and since I came back to Sicily as a Tour Guide I really love to share my knowledge on many aspects of Sicilian Culture. I do tours mainly in eastern Sicily (Taormina, Catania, Siracusa and several other town). Overview of your Taormina tour
Your experience begins with a private transfer from your preferred departure city — Taormina, Catania or Syracuse — towards the southern slopes of Mount Etna. Your guide will travel with you by car and accompany you throughout the ascent, sharing insights into the volcano, its landscape and the unique environment of the Etna region. After the mountain experience, enjoy a relaxed lunch at a local winery with a Sicilian wine tasting, or at an authentic traditional trattoria, depending on your preferences.
Your Taormina tour itinerary
The journey takes you through the characteristic Etna landscape, from cultivated slopes and vineyards to ancient lava flows and volcanic terrain. Upon reaching approximately 2,000 metres, you will continue your ascent by cable car to around 2,500 metres. From here, a 4x4 Jeep takes you higher into the volcanic landscape, followed by a short hike reaching approximately 2,900 metres, where you can experience the extraordinary scenery of Etna's upper slopes and volcanic craters. The tour is fully customizable and can be adapted to your interests (please send me a message before booking), pace and preferred departure location.
