Hi, I'm Dario, a licensed local guide in Naples with 10 years of experience and a background as tour manager on cruise ships across the Mediterranean. You only get one shot at this trip. I make sure you don't spend it wandering around without understanding what you're looking at, or stuck with a guide who barely speaks your language. Beyond what's required for the license, I've spent years studying the history, art and archaeology of this area on my own, because I don't want to just recite dates, I want to actually understand what we're looking at, and help you understand it too. If you're arriving by cruise, I build the day around your ship's schedule, with private pick-up and drop-off, so you're back on board on time, guaranteed. We had a wonderful time with Dario exploring Pompeii! He had a great depth of knowledge about Pompeii during the time it was an active city prior to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I had my two children with us 18 and 12. He was very interactive with them and made it much more fun learning about the small details of the city. It was a wonderful Dec morning in 2023, and our guide, Dario, was ready with a sign when our car drew to the gate. As we were early, he directed us to the cafe opposite the gate, where we had a truly enjoyable brunch. As the gate opened, we made our way to the entrance and walked up the hilly area where Dario fell into an amazing narrative of the floods, Vesuvius, the brothels, and the cobblestones. The 2-hour tour was like a dream. Dario helped with photos, and we left on time with an amazing memory.

The tour starts at the Pompeii ruins gate where you meet the guide. The tour proceeds visiting the highlights of this amazing ancient city. You stop is at the public sauna, a beautiful building decorated with frescos and mosaics. Next you walk to reach the city centre where is set the most spectacular square of Pompeii: The Forum. There you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Vesuvius. You see several shops which are the witnesses of the commercial aspect of Pompeii. On the way you stop to visit an elegant Roman House. The visit finish at the theatres area where you can see two beautiful theatres.
