My name is Dario and I'm from Sorrento, in the bay of Naples. I have a University Degree in Foreign Languages specializing in History ("Orientale" University of Naples) and a second University Degree in Archaeology ("Luigi Vanvitelli" University of Santa Maria Capua Vetere). Pompeii and Herculaneum are certainly the best preserved Roman sites in the world because their life was suddenly interrupted by the terrible 79 AD eruption of Mt Vesuvius. For nearly two thousand years these two cities were sealed off by the ash and mud of that eruption. While the other Roman towns have been destroyed over time by the Barbarians and the various invasions of peoples in Italy, these two Roman cities have remained intact. They are almost a film set, but it is all real, the suffering still visible on the casts of the people in Pompeii, the frescoes, the houses, the spas, the shops, etc. It is a truly exciting tour. **IN POMPEII: Skip the line access *** IN HERCULANEUM: We do not have skip the line access, but while using the toilets, I'll buy entrance tickets for you for maximizing your time but THE ENTRANCE FEES OF POMPEII AND HERCULANEUM ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. IMPORTANT: it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, the tour's entirely on foot.
Absolutely superb tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum [full day]. All my group loved Dario for pitching his tour at the right level (no dumbing down here!), answering all their questions, and presenting the info in such an engaging and entertaining way. Fantastic.
Dario was exceptional in providing both interesting information and helpful in going out of his way to organize our tour even though we had to rearrange the time due to a train strike and inclement weather. Dario was excellent! We were late arriving but he brushed it off and made us feel relaxed and got us excited for the day. His knowledge was very deep and we learned a lot from him. He made it a great day for the adults and our three boys!

Anyone seeking knowledge about Pompeii and Herculaneum would benefit from having Dario as their guide. My tour of both sites was incredibly informative. Short Break for a snack (not included). Transfer by train to Herculaneum (20 minute trip + 10 minute walk). Herculaneum: Herculaneum is considered better preserved than Pompeii with its streets, shops and frescoed houses.
