Hi, I'm Marta an official local guide of Campania Region since 2014. I was born and I live in Salerno, a town in Southern Italy, close to the Amalfi Coast. I'm graduated in Foreign Languages (Arabic, Portuguese and English) and I have a Master Degree in History of Art and Cultural Heritage. I worked in Spain for two years with an Italian Tour Operator. I was selling package holidays to Spanish agencies. In 2014, I took my Tour Guide Licence, because I wanted to change direction with my career as a Tour guide. I started part-time working at the Botanical Garden of Salerno and teaching junior and secondary aged students in Orienteering, an outdoor sport. During this period, the Garden Tours Department asked me to take visitors on two hours tours of Salerno, which lead on to self-organised tours around the historical sites of Campania Region. Today, I do tours around the region, in particular, tours of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi, Ravello and Paestum. My tours are comprehensive, funny and are designed to inform you about the people, culture and history of this wonderful land. I aim to grab the interest of visitors, deepening the understanding of local history, using the anecdotal history alongside the classical facts. I love showing people Pompeii and teaching them all the little stories I learned during my personal studies. My 2 hours Pompeii tour is a great tour to first time visitors. I will introduce you the main points of the ancient Roman Life and Roman Art. My explanation will start from the facts that preceded the AD 79 eruption. I will tell you the historical testimonies of people who lived in that time. And then I will show you the ruins of the town after the catastrophe. I will illustrate you the public buildings such as, The Basilica (the town hall), the Macellum (the market), the temples. I will explain you the architecture of the buildings, the political life and the habits of the different social classes. Pompeii is the only archaeological site in the world that you can visit older than 2000 years exactly as it was because of the eruption materials covered the buildings completely. During the visit, we will aim to see, the baths, the forum, the frozen citizens of Pompeii etc
Marta was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the tour and Pompeii. Very good at explanations and made sure we understand everything and that we are comfortable with pace under extreme heat like today. Perfect guide for private tours. Definitely recommend both on Spanish and English.

Marta is an excellent guide and she went above and beyond to accommodate us for our tour of Pompei. We needed a wheelchair for my 90 year old mom to be able to see Pompei. They do not have wheelchairs for use at Pompei, but Marta got one and brought it with her. Her passion and love of this amazing site came through in her knowledge and stories of what life was like at Pompei. We are so happy that Marta agreed to be our guide and for the great experience she provided for us.
Marta was a wonderful guide. She was extremely flexible to our needs and adapted the tour to suit our interests as we went around. She has a friendly and kind manner, and a deep knowledge of Pompeii and its history. Everything was clear to understand. We felt very well looked after! Would recommend highly to anyone.
