I am a licensed tourist guide, which means that in order to be able to give tours in all the archaeological sites and historic monuments of Greece, I had to take a 3 year in-depth course and successfully pass the Greek Ministry of Tourism exams. The village of Oia, a must-see landmark of Santorini, is a place where one can spend a couple of hours, a day or a life. The charm of this world famous settlement lies in its colourful cave houses, the imposing mansions of the captains of the sea and its numerous blue domed churches perched on the cliffs, overlooking the caldera. Let's explore this unique place and get photographed in front of the blue domes before we set our way to the other side of the island to explore the hidden gems of Megalochori and Emporio. Our tour includes a visit to the beach of Vlychada to admire the beauty of nature and a scenic drive to the top of the Prophetes Elias mountain to enjoy a 360 decrees view over the entire island. Eugenia was excellent. Well planned trip, very informative, very good English and enjoyable to spend the half day with. Would definitely recommend her to others. She was via easy to communicate with and responsive to our needs. She was also very patient with us in adapting the trip some due to some late scheduling changes by us. Eugenia is an excellent tour guide! She showed us parts of Santorini that we didn't even know were there. She drove us all over the island, explaining how it was formed. She took us to villages where the locals live, in addition to walking with us through the more touristy parts of Santorini (like Oia) and explaining the history of those areas. She was patient with us. She made sure we were fed. She tailored the tour to fit our needs. I cannot recommend her enough!
Honestly: If you wish to discover Santorini and get to know more about its stunning history as well as of its little villages off the beaten tracks, you really should go explore with Eugenia. She's the perfect guide and probably the loveliest person there is amongst the guide on this island. She'll provide you not only with lots of knowledge but also with stories of her own family-history that dates back to the time when Santorini was still an excluded island with no tourists at all. - OIA! No words can describe the beauty of this place. Not even a picture can capture its magnificence . Let's get around there and admire the beauty of nature but also the inventiveness of humans taking advantage of every square meter on the cliffs for building a cave house. Living on Santorini, a volcanic island, you definitely live on the edge and you can only seize the day. - Megalochori on the south side gives you a full local experience. Cozy tavernas around the main square where the locals gather every afternoon, old wineries and charming houses set the perfect scenery for discovering the original side of the island. - Emporio , a medieval castle itself, still maintains memories of the past when pirates were attacking the island. -The beach of Vlychada with its overwhelming carved cliffs, although resembling a sculptor's work , in fact come from a natural process owed to the volcano and the elements of nature. - The peak of the mount Prophetes Elias reveals the beauty of Santorini before your eyes
