A walk through ancient Akrotiri, perfectly preserved in the ash that covered the city after a massive eruption of the late 17th century BC, will be a pleasant surprise for you! The technological achievements of those prehistoric people, the perfect sewage system of the houses and the incredibly nice decoration of all the buildings , make most visitors of Akrotiri today, feel like they are wandering around a modern city 3600 years ago. Exploring the traditional village of pyrgos we can see the real Santorini of today: the people, the architecture, the landscape. A drive to the top of the island and a visit of a Winery will make you appreciate the grandeur of the Santorinian landscape.
Excellent tour. Eugenia had a very engaging personality and was extremely knowledgeable and shared the history of Akrotiri in a way that was easy to follow, educational, and enjoyable to listen to. Communication during the booking process and afterward was very quick and responsive. My wife has mobility issues and Eugenia was extremely caring and accommodating.
