We head off to Achillion palace. It was commissioned by Empress Sisi of Austria, is known as one of the must-see spots on the island of Corfu. Explore the palace's gardens and statues that have exalted the palace to a place of historical glory. Later we depart for Kanoni, a beauty spot situated three kilometers south from Corfu Town center. Here we will stop to have a drink and admire the lovely views and take pictures of the famous Mouse Island & the small islet with the nunnery of The Holy Virgin of Vlacherena. At the end we head off to Corfu Town to discover enchanting squares, beautiful architecture and learn more about the old towns' UNESCO world heritage status.
Unfortunately our guide was ill but our driver was on time and an excellent substitute. The boat ride around the coastline in Corfu was awesome, definitely a must-do. We then saw the lovely grounds of a palace before being returned to old town to self tour. One of our favorite days of the vacation! ( Tours by Locals emailed immediately and credited me because we did not have a guide, just a driver. I would definitely use them again, very reputable.)

We were promptly greeted by Christina and her driver, Milos at the port entry and began a magical tour of the romantic island of Corfu. From the majestic Achilleion to the beautiful Monastery and beaches of Paleokastritsa, Christina provided humorous anecdotes and Greek history to each site visited. I wish I had recorded the history lessons as, although familiar through long ago lessons, many were new and most others forgotten over the many years! Corfu deserves the rich history refresher Christina provides!! Christina also include a quick “Durrells of Corfu” tour - I highly recommend watching this wonderfully acted BBC series on PBS, based on an English family’s experience when they relocated to Corfu in the 1930’s. Christina is thoroughly engaging and is the epitome of guiding: passionate, revealing, knowledgeable and easy to love as a person.
Christina is absolutely wonderful. She is so friendly and personable! In addiction, she is very knowledgeable and we learned so much. We not only saw the town of Corfu. But also the country side. The drive along the Adriatic Sea was very beautiful! The Achillion palace was spectacular, with outstanding views. The tour is 5 stars, but I would give Christina 10 stars. Cruise Passengers: Your meeting point is located inside the cruise terminal. Once you leave the ship, you can either walk to the terminal (a terracotta coloured building) or use the Interport shuttle bus for free (blue and white). It operates approximately every 3–4 minutes.
