I am Anselm, a Stuttgart-based driver and tour guide who loves turning “just a transfer” into a genuine encounter with the people and the region. During my studies, I financed my education by driving a taxi. Day after day, I got to know the city in the most direct way possible: I listened to people's stories, observed how neighborhoods changed, and discovered how geography, industry, and history shape everyday life. What began as a student job became a passion—and eventually my profession. Over the years, I evolved from a taxi driver to a licensed tour guide, building up in-depth local knowledge and a reliable network. Today, I offer private tours and day trips in and around Stuttgart—personal, flexible, and authentic. And now even over several days—book me for your vacation! My style is relaxed and respectful: no luxury show, no “tourist script,” but real stories, cultural context, and insights that you can only get from someone who has spent decades on these streets. I'll tell you how the city “works,” with all the important connections. History, art history, automotive history, architecture, genealogy, and Stuttgart's nature, parks, forests, and gardens, as well as sustainability, are my daily work.

Why was Stuttgart founded in a marshy valley – against almost all classical principles of city planning – and yet developed into one of Germany’s most economically powerful and fascinating cities? That is exactly why Stuttgart offers so many features you won’t find in other cities. Is it a mere coincidence that the centre of the automobile industry emerged right here? Beyond industry and engineering, Stuttgart is also a stronghold of publishing and an important service hub – an expression of a very particular “Swabian spirit”. And what about the famous cliché that Swabians “don’t like to spend money” – while others even speak of stinginess? Stuttgart has also long been a hotspot for early democratic developments in Germany and Europe. I will show you where this happened – and why it happened here. And rest assured: I will make you laugh along the way!
The tour usually starts either at the beginning of Königstraße, opposite Stuttgart’s main railway station, or at the Tourist Information at Marktplatz. During our walk through the city centre, we will see Stuttgart’s former royal palaces the State Opera The Parliament of Baden-Württemberg Stuttgart’s “cultural mile” Schlossplatz The Old Castle Karlsplatz the Memorial to the Victims of National Socialism the Dorotheen Quartier the Breuninger department store and the Market Square. Of course, we will also visit Stuttgart’s famous market hall – often considered ‘one of the most beautiful in the world’. In addition, I will take you to a local hidden gem offering a great panoramic view over the city centre, perfect for photos. There will be time for questions, conversation and a coffee break along the way. The tour can be shortened or extended depending on interests and pace. The tour can end wherever you prefer.
