Welcome to Berlin! It derserves your attention! It is the most interesting, dynamic and multifaceted city today. My name is Karin and I take great pleasure knowing that you have chosen Berlin for your visit and have a great desire that you come to understand this complex city so riddled with history. I am an experienced, knowledgable, certified local tour guide for Berlin and Potsdam. Even though I was born here, I did not grow up here. I came back to Berlin from Spain (with long interludes in Canada and California) in 1994. What I found was incredibly uniuqe: a city toppeling over with so much history and history in the making. From the first moment on I was spellbound. I became obsessed with its history and development. I talked to people both from the East and West to find out their stories and opinions. Today, I have the feeling Berlin is catching up with itself to finally reach its potential that was interupted with the rise of the 3rd. Reich. I want to share with you the love and compassion I have developed for Berlin and take you on that journey. Even though I have set private tours, they can be planed according to your interests and time. I give walking tours, tours using public transport, taxi, hired car or minivan. You can choose to have a general overview, or go in depth into a particular subject or neighbourhood. It is well worth your time. Explore different themes such as Jewish life then and now, the Cold War along with private life in Eastern Germany, Imperial Berlin, WWII as well as getting off the beaten track to show you the fascinating and varied neighbourhoods, each one with its own development and history. In all my private tours I use images and newspaper articles to illustrate the past and draw links to the present. Karin is an excellent guide. She showed us Berlin’s major highlights and we gained so much knowledge too because Karin is also a good historian. She came with a spacious Van and a friendly driver. If I have the chance to visit Berlin again, I will go with Karin.
Babette, I wanted to share with you our wonderful tour to Berlin with Karin. I picked her from the many Tours by Locals options for our tour because she was the one tour guide that came to our ship dock and rode all the way to and from Berlin with us. She spoke very good English and was well educated in history and current events affecting the region. Karin was awesome. I totally recommend her! We had a great tour in Berlin. She listened to our interests and developed a tour, making changes in the fly to meet our needs, that gave us a wonderful sense of the city— from the major attractions to local neighborhoods.
Karin was the perfect tour guide for my family of 7 (including adult children 22-30). I told her in advance a few things we were interested in seeing and she built an incredible day around those requests and threw in some additional stops that I would never have known about. She picked us up at the cruise port in Warnemunde and returned us in plenty of time to wander around the local town before our time to return to the boat. She was full of wonderful local history, was delightful to be around, and my family loved spending the day with her and her driver Jorgen (spelling?). She allowed us to stop for snacks, and restroom breaks, and even beer whenever we wanted- she was very flexible to what we wanted to do. I highly recommend taking a tour with Karin!

Your day begins right at your cruise ship, where my driver and I will meet you depending on the time you give us. Then we head out on a scenic 2.5-hour drive through northeastern Germany. I’ll share stories that bring this region to life—so you’ll already feel connected before we even reach Berlin.
