My name is Christopher, I'm a registered tour guide living in Marseille. I've been working as a guide in Provence for the last nine years - visiting the region for well over twenty-five, so I know a lot about what's best to see and visit as well as the region's highlights & lesser known hidden secrets of this beautiful region. Originally from London and as well as my individual work as a tour guide with ToursByLocals, I'm also a partner in a small niche private tour business based in Provence which I run with my French husband. I work all year round as a tour guide, enjoying showing & sharing with my guests my knowledge of the South of France. This is after all the region of France that epitomises the Mediterranean dream destination! My tours aim to inspire and visitors who want to discover & connect with the local people, culture & traditions of Provence. I like my guests to feel they are meeting up with old friends to explore my corner of France. All my tours are at a leisurely pace with lots of laughs and fun along the way. Having lived most of my adult life in London and been fortunate to be able to travel to over twenty six countries during that time. I enjoy travelling and especially meeting people from different corners of the world, being able to show them the visible and less obvious secret gems of this incredibly beautiful region of France. My passion for travel and meeting new people brought me back to live in France in 2013. I decided to become a tour guide to share with visitors my passion for Provence. In 2022 I became a French citizen. As your personal guide, I will always make sure each tour adapts to the style and expectation of my guests. I want you to enjoy a unique experience of the very best of Provence. There is so much to see and do - the regions culture, history, landscape, gastronomic food & fine wine; warm all year round climate & sunshine, colourful dramatic landscapes, ancient history and ancestral traditions as well as the authenticity of the people who live here in the towns, countryside and hilltop villages. Above all else it will be unhurried and at a gentle pace, unless you have to get back to the ship and then the day is adapted accordingly. What I specialise in is creating inspirational private tours & custom-made tour itineraries. My guests typically will be looking for small individual experiences or meaningful time with their partner & family or the chance to reconnect. Most of my set itineraries are priced for two people, but they are also available for 3-4 people and although the tours are priced per couple - if you are three people travelling, even four, it's easy to divide and multiply to adjust the cost of each tour accordingly. If you are more that two, I will send a revised customized quotation so that you can book your tour. If you reserve a tour with me - I guarantee we'll have a great fun day out, relaxed, unhurried, friendly, convivial and free from stress - you're on a vacation after all. If you would like more information on any tour or a quotation for something a little bit different please send me a message. All messages are responded to same working day. Hope to welcome you to Provence soon. Christopher I'm a registered Tour Guide and also a professional photographer, I can guide in historic sites, museums, galleries and so forth with no restrictions. I have all the relevant driving licenses to transport people and provide a full insurance coverage including public liability for all my guests.

The beauty of the countryside - its lush green olive groves & vineyards plus the quality of light which inspired artists, writers & painters including Vincent van Gogh in the late 19th century. Saint Rémy historic village birthplace of Nostradamus and today one of the most beautiful vibrant small towns of the Alpilles. Arles, city of art, history, photography a Unesco World Heritage Site. Most visitors come in search of Van Gogh & Roman history, look for the cafe he painted & other sites easily recognisable from his work. Arles founded in 46BC by Julius Caesar, developed by Augustus 2000 years ago. Van Gogh arrived in 1888, made 187 painting & drawings. Van Gogh with the Roman theme takes you a step further in the uniqueness of Provence, culminating in a visit to the Amphithéatre d'Arènes, one of the most important monuments from the Roman period in Arles .
We leave by car first to St Rémy de Provence, visit the town, explore its narrow streets and discover the numerous boutiques, food shops & art galleries then a short drive to the monastère Saint Paul de Mausole the psychiatric hospital where Vincent Van Gogh stayed between 1889-1890. We would propose an early lunch break in St Rémy before driving on to Arles. Arriving in Arles, walking tour of the old town - visit the Roman Amphiteatre, Théâtre Antique d'Arles, Hôtel de Ville, Place du Forum, Cathédrale Saint Trophime & Hôtel Dieu espace Van Gogh garden and during our tour look out for a number of locations featured in Van Gogh's work. From Arles return to your hotel or villa.
