Dear Guest, I am a local bilingual guide with roots from Aix from as far back as the creation of the Papal state in Avignon (14th Century), with stories to tell of my grandparents involvement in the second world war, when the city was occupied by the Nazis. It's an honour and a privilege to show you around my mother's hometown. While I am half French, my father and I were born in the UK, so we speak British English, so well in fact, that we are both English teachers (though my Dad teaches at a business school, and I teach at the university - which is obviously more prestigious) My promise is to give you an unforgettable experience of Provence like a local. I cannot wait to see you here, to see how you react to tastes, sights and smells of my city and region. Thank you for booking with me. Benjamin BA (hons) French and Business Management None

Aix-en-Provence, often referred to as the "City of a Thousand Fountains, " is renowned for its stunning architecture, vibrant markets, and a rich artistic legacy. Immerse yourself in the ambiance of tree-lined boulevards and discover the inspiration behind renowned artists like Cézanne, who once wandered these very streets. My approach to guiding is not merely about reciting historical facts but creating an immersive experience with personal stories. Aix-en-Provence is a city with a beating heart, and I strive to connect travelers with its pulse. Whether it's sharing secret spots known only to locals, recommending a charming boulangerie, or guiding you through the winding alleys where history whispers its tales, I aim to make your journey not just informative but deeply memorable. I also love tasting food. Being part of the history of the city, combined with a passion for storytelling, you will get an insightful perspective of life here through the ages.
Note this is our suggested itinerary, and we can tailor it to your needs. • Start at meet up point outside the Tourism Office (AC and charge points indoors, Free WIFI available by Aix city). • You will learn about the geography and history while we meander up the the main street 'the cours Mirabeau'. • You will discover the private mansions of the city in the Mazarin quarter, and take souvenir pictures at the Four Dolphin fountain. • Later you will try the local delicacy, the Calisson, a sweet almond traditional candy. • You will live like the locals and take a break at a café on one of the its many stunning plazas. • Finally you will continue going through historic streets until you arrive to the Cathedral.
