A full day to explore the water town of Zhouzhuang from Shanghai is a great introduction to the area and culture. Zhouzhuang is a beautiful water town and a great place to spend a day. Qinqin organized a great excursion from Shanghai and everything went smoothly as I saw all the amazing sites around the town. A highlight was the gondola ride, and lunch at a local restaurant was delicious. Qinqin is a very knowledgeable and personable guide.
The guide was stuffed with all sorts of knowledge, from history to culture and architecture. Despite bad weather we had a great time and got deep insights in all the places we visited. Very cheerful and flexible, Qinqin adapted very fast to the changing conditions. Shanghai city was known as the own pocket. Could only recommend.
--Guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 9am or anytime you prefer. --Travel from your hotel to Zhouzhuang (1. 5 hours) since Zhouzhuang is about 60km from downtown Shanghai. --After arrive in Zhouzhuang, your tour will start from the ancient arches and then walk along the ancient canals to feel the water atmosphere, old stone-made bridges and local houses. --Then you will see one of the oldest official government house, Zhang's hall, which was originally built in the Ming Dynasty. Next, you will be taken to one of the richest residential houses, the Shen's Family Hall which is from the Qing Dynasty. This will help give different perspectives of houses during the different dynasties. --After, take a wooden boat in an ancient canal which is one of the highlights of visiting Zhouzhuang. Watch ancient Kung opera in the stage. --Drive you back to Shanghai and drop you off in your hotel at the end of the tour. FYI: Tour itineraries can be customized.
