Jin gave me a wonderful one-day tour of Shanghai in English. She met me at my hotel, and throughout the day we traveled by Didi or by taxi, depending on what was most convenient. We also did a fair amount of walking. In my opinion, this is a much better way to experience Shanghai than taking a tour with a private car, because you get to see the city the way locals do while still covering a lot of ground. Jin is extremely knowledgeable about Shanghai's history, architecture, and culture. She provided excellent explanations at every stop and was happy to answer all of my questions. Our itinerary included: * Yu Garden * City God Temple * The Bazaar surrounding Yu Garden * The Bund * Ferry across the Huangpu River to Lujiazui * Walk through Lujiazui and lunch at the IFC Mall * Former French Concession * Wukang Road and the surrounding historic neighborhood * Shikumen houses in Feng Yu Lane * Xintiandi * Museum of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party One of my favorite parts of the day was seeing the traditional shikumen houses in Feng Yu Lane, then walking into the beautifully restored and vibrant Xintiandi, and finally visiting the museum of the First National Congress of the CCP in the same historic area. Experiencing these places together really helped me understand Shanghai's fascinating history and development. She also gave me ideas of what other places to visit during the rest of my stay in Shanghai. I highly recommend Jin to anyone visiting Shanghai. She is professional, personable, and exceptionally knowledgeable, and I felt that her tour was an outstanding value. It was one of the highlights of my visit to Shanghai.
