Ancient Town to Auto City: Discover Jiading’s History, Temples, Gardens & Shanghai Soup Dumpling in a Day
Overview of your Shanghai tour
Jiading is a district in northwestern Shanghai. In 1218, Emperor Ningzong merged local villages and towns into a county, naming it "Jiading" after his reign title – a name that means "a beautiful land blessed with stability". It is home to three of Shanghai’s five classical gardens, and two of them – Qiuxiapu Garden and Huilongtan Park – are part of this trip. Jiading Confucian Temple, the largest county-level official academic institution in the Shanghai, also stands here. This temple was built by imperial order of Emperor Ningzong himself. Zhouqiao Old Street is the heart of the ancient town. On the street stands Lotus Sutra Pagoda; under the pagoda, there is Wellington Koo Memorial and a Bamboo Carving Museum. Jiading is the birthplace of the world-famous Shanghai Soup Dumpling. In 2007, China’s largest Automobile Museum was also completed here. Bamboo Carving Museum (all three attractions are located within the same courtyard). - 12:30-13:30 Lunch will be at the pastry shop outside Jiading Confucian Temple, where you can taste Shanghai Soup Dumpling. - 13:30-14:30 Visit Jiading Confucian Temple and Huilongtan Park - 14:30-15:00 Take a private car to Shanghai Auto Museum. - 15:30-17:30 Visit the Shanghai Auto Museum for two hours. - 17:30-18:00 Take a private car to Nanxiang Ancient Town - 18:00-19:30 Explore the night view of Nanxiang Ancient Town. (It is recommended to have a traditional dinner of Shanghai's suburban areas in Nanxiang Ancient Town.) - 19:30-20:30 Take a private car back to your cozy accommodation in Shanghai.
