Want to explore Shanghai like a friend, not a tourist? See highlights through local eyes? Taste incredible food? Enjoy real moments not cliché package tours? I'm new to this platform, but I'm "old" as a private guide. Since 2016, I've received hundreds of heartfelt reviews across multiple platforms. I created my own tours because I was tired of rigid itineraries, crowded places, hidden costs, lack of open communication, and factory-line experiences. With 14 years of deep travel experience, I design your day how I'd want my own holiday: authentic, flexible, stress-free, no regrets. My Tourism Management degree helps me operate effectively. My Psychotherapy Master's helps me truly listen—so you feel understood, not just guided. We'll explore highlights and hidden corners, local food spots, and spontaneous moments that match your curiosity. I share stories, not lectures. I create a safe space where your needs come first—no worries, no judgment. I embrace your interests , though I may not know everything, I'll research and work around you. Experiences are created not just by me, but us together. Beyond Shanghai, I have great knowledge and experience with other nearby destinations, such as Suzhou, Hangzhou, Yangzhou, the water towns, Huangshan Mountains, and more. In addition to my background in tourism, I spent three years working in procurement during the pandemic, so if your needs are business related, I can assist you with that too. In my personal life, I'm curious about everything: cooking, antiques, architecture, fashion, art, handcraft, classic rock, old films, literature, psychology, and philosophy. I know a "little bit about everything." :) Want to see what that looks like? Check out the photos on the left for real moments with past guests. I'll respond within 24 hours. Reach out anytime! Shanghai has a wealth of history and architecture, but personally, my favorite building here is a quiet, lesser-known, yet astonishing British structure, the 1933 Slaughterhouse. There were once three similar slaughterhouses in the world: one in the UK, one in the US, and the last one here in Shanghai. Today, only this one remains and is open to the public. This tour is for anyone who loves unusual places, history, and architecture. Apart from this remarkable building, there are also many authentic Shanghai local residences and delicious local food nearby. We will take a close look at real Shanghainese life. The tour lasts about 3 hours, focusing mainly on this beautiful historic building, along with some local insights into the surrounding area. I'm Scarlett, your guide – hundreds of heartfelt online reviews over seven years, and a Master's in Psychotherapy from Sydney. Good guiding means creating a space where you feel safe and comfortable.
