Forbidden city, Summer Palace was first built in 1750, it's one of the biggest imperial gardens in China. The Great Wall was the ancient defense project in the old days, the Mutianyu Great Wall was first built in Northern and Southern dynasty over 1000 years ago. Temple of Heaven is located in south part of Beijing, which was first built in 1420, the ancient emperors would go to the temple 3 times a year and plenty more sights to be seen! Alexandra was absolutely brilliant! From meeting us at our hotel, arranging all the transport, attractions tickets, and taking us to some wonderful restaurants, it was a very smooth and efficient experience throughout. On top of that we had some lovely chats and a great laugh with Alexandra. She is super friendly and knowledgable about the history of Beijing — especially the final Ming and Qing dynasties that held power there.
Alexandra met all of our expectations. As we were traveling with our 20 month old granddaughter along with our son and daughter-in-law, she carefully planned our itinerary in a way that worked well for us. She was very thoughtful and had a good sense of pacing. Of course, the Forbidden city and Temple of Heaven were extraordinary to see but the real test of a good guide is when they have that sixth sense of knowing the rhythm of the group and sensing our needs..
Alex has a splendid personality for her profession, very calming, funny and knowledgeable of her home town Beijing. Very easy pace, doesn't look at the clock or push to maintain a schedule. Once you're happy, Alex is happy! Highly recommend - booked two tours with her!
Alex knows her history. Made the tour very satisfying. Her accommodating nature and concern for our group turned a credit card fiasco turn into a win I would recommend Alex too both young and old
Alex was great. She is knowledgeable and she kept us moving over the three days, which is perfect for the city. In a city with a language barrier and huge size, it is very helpful to have Alex navigate and handle the logistical issues, which she did masterfully. We also very much enjoyed Alex's company, which is a very important consideration. Three days is a perfect duration to see sites in Beijing plus the Great Wall, especially with a well organized guid like Alex.
Alex is a wonderful guide and we loved the tour she gave us. She taught us a lot of useful Chinese and helped us negotiate some purchases. Lunch was at a good local restaurant. She is very smart and gave us a lot of useful information about China. We would not hesitate to use her again if we come back to Beijing!
Day 1: Today we are going to visit the the Forbidden City where twenty four emperors used to rule China , after lunch in a local restaurant we will visit the Temple of Heaven where the emperors prayed for good harvest and worship God of Heaven Day 2: visit Beihai park, Hutong in the morning ( see the Drum tower, Bell tower, walk at Smoking Pipe cultural street ), Beijing Zoo to see our national treasure panda bears Day 3: visit the Mutianyu Great Wall in the morning ( this less crowded Section was first built in Northern and Southern dynasty and has been repaired in Ming dynasty) lunch will be in a local restaurant at the bottom of the Wall. Visit the Summer palace in the afternoon. This is a suggested itinerary, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour for you.
