Toronto has everything. You just need to know where to look. Hi, I’m Alex, also known as BeardedProf416. I uncover the stories, hidden corners, and unexpected connections that most people walk right past. I’m a college professor and a university researcher teaching tourism, hospitality, and storytelling, with over 18 years of experience working with organizations like the Toronto International Film Festival, Lonely Planet, Jane’s Walk, and many cultural institutions across the city. I hold a Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (honors) and a Master’s degree in Digital Media, where I explored how stories, public spaces, and social media shape how we experience urban environments. My tours go beyond history and landmarks. They are about seeing Toronto differently, with its hidden details, forgotten stories, local food, public art, and layers of emotion. The kinds of things that turn a few hours into something memorable. I was born in a country that no longer exists, grew up between cultures, professionally straddling several industries, and built my life in Toronto. In many ways, that makes me a perfect Torontonian. I understand this city through movement, identity, and connection, and I love helping others experience it that way too. I also smoke cigars, collect pins, ride motorcycles, eat a lot of food, and chase great stories wherever they appear. Somehow, all of that ends up shaping my tours and my life overall. If you only have a few hours in Toronto, I will help you experience the city and not just visit it. All tours are walking-based. Transportation can be arranged in advance. Let’s explore.

Cannabis, weed, marijuana, ganga, flower, etc. . . It has been over 7 years since Canada adopted the Cannabis Act, and all the sale, production, and distribution of cannabis became legal in the whole country. Similar to alcoholic beverages, anyone above the age of majority can purchase, and even grow their own cannabis. We all know what 4/20 stands for, right? What about 1/10? This will be a walking tour along the streets of Toronto, encompassing a couple of hours. We will walk through some of the more famous areas in the city, and I'll tell you the history of cannabis, starting centuries ago, its path through criminalization, and a journey back to legalization over the 20th century. We will sneak into a cannabis shop and I'll teach you how to make an appropriate purchase and what to look for in available products, ways of consumption, difference between THC and CBD, etc. There will be absolutely NO CONSUMPTION of any cannabis products on the tour, but it's still 19+ ONLY!
-We would start our tour from outside of the Silver Dollar Room. -We'll then walk west, along College street. -We'll pass by T&T Supermarket, a 30+ year old Vancouver based chain! -Next, we'll reach Little Italy and discuss how immigration shapes this city. -Later, we'll reach Kensington Market, where we'll pass by staple venues such as Wanda's Pie in the Sky & vintage markets. -Also in Kensington, we'll visit a cannabis shop and discuss the history of cannabis in the market. -We will end our tour at a horticultural shop (grower's retailer) inside Kensington Market.
