This is a tour for history buffs and anyone who loves experiencing places and hearing stories. I have a Master's degree in urban culture and a thriving interest in Toronto's heritage. I designed this tour to consist of a gentle walk, mostly downhill and off of busy streets, making sure it's a fun experience! In just about 10, 000 steps, I'll be taking you to the ins and outs of Toronto from its indigenous roots, through its Victorian growth and modern developments. Our path winds us through Toronto old and new, starting with a dinosaur at the Royal Ontario Museum through the city's civic square and all the way to the waterfront. Our tour can be carried out come rain or shine. This being said, in uncomfortable weather we can focus more attention inside museums and use indoor passages or public transit to get around. There will be time to take it all in breaks, take selfies and find some snacks or souvenirs at some of Toronto's best boutiques!
-Our tour begins in the Royal Ontario Museum's lobby, Canada's largest & most comprehensive museum. -We'll set off from here to the stoney St. George campus of University of Toronto, Canada's oldest. ·We could then visit Thomas Fisher Rare book library; a unique experience of an invaluable collection (weekdays only). -Next, we'll visit the Provincial building at Queen's Park and its many statues. -We'll then walk down the street to Discovery District, a thriving BioTechnology hub and on to City Hall & Nathan Philips Square; the City's centre for civics & selfies. We'll visit monuments related to Canada's First Nations people here too. -We'll visit the famous modern architecture of the Financial District and then head to the Victorian grandeur of the Royal York Hotel. -Across the street is Union Station, a key to Canadian history and the heart of the city. -Finally, we'll head to the harbourfront on Lake Ontario and finish our journey with a big view of water and trees.
