Alex was fantastic! We had a great time and learned so much about Toronto. I feel that we really got to know the city through our time with Alex. I also learned a lot about street art that I did not know. I highly recommend his tour.

Toronto has everything. You just need to know where to look. Hi, I’m Alex, also known as BeardedProf416. I uncover the stories, hidden corners, and unexpected connections that most people walk right past. I’m a college professor and a university researcher teaching tourism, hospitality, and storytelling, with over 18 years of experience working with organizations like the Toronto International Film Festival, Lonely Planet, Jane’s Walk, and many cultural institutions across the city. I hold a Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (honors) and a Master’s degree in Digital Media, where I explored how stories, public spaces, and social media shape how we experience urban environments. My tours go beyond history and landmarks. They are about seeing Toronto differently, with its hidden details, forgotten stories, local food, public art, and layers of emotion. The kinds of things that turn a few hours into something memorable. I was born in a country that no longer exists, grew up between cultures, professionally straddling several industries, and built my life in Toronto. In many ways, that makes me a perfect Torontonian. I understand this city through movement, identity, and connection, and I love helping others experience it that way too. I also smoke cigars, collect pins, ride motorcycles, eat a lot of food, and chase great stories wherever they appear. Somehow, all of that ends up shaping my tours and my life overall. If you only have a few hours in Toronto, I will help you experience the city and not just visit it. All tours are walking-based. Transportation can be arranged in advance. Let’s explore.

Join me on an experiential walk that'll entice your senses, please the eyes and rumble the belly. We'll gather at St. Lawrence Market, one of the oldest "covered markets" in North America and one of the best in the world, as voted by National Geographic magazine. It hides one of the city's best kept secrets: a free Toronto museum in a heritage building! This tour is the best possible way to experience the city on a personal level. We'll talk about food and how it unites us, as well as what kind of flavour influences you can see in Canada, and specifically in Toronto. You'll also get a chance to grab some coffee and a snack before moving along Front Street with me. Get ready to pass by some of Toronto's best restaurants, fantastic architecture, and public art. I'll be sure to tell you a story about public parks and see if you can find a "real life" Easter Egg, among many other things we'll see making a few stops along the way. We'll cover about 4 km (2. 5 miles) with many stops on mostly flat pavement.

Alex was a fantastic guide! He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and was full of interesting facts. We were visiting Canada with our 20 yr old son who was visiting Toronto for the first time. A highlight of the trip was learning about the city with Alex as our guide.
