Bonjour ! Discover Quebec-City, Lévis, and the surrounding areas with me as your private guide. I am available to take you on a journey through history, culture, and heritage almost every day. My TBL calendar may show as "red" but don't let that deter you! I often work with colleagues to ensure I can still give you a tour. If you see that I am unavailable, feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to accommodate you. What can you expect from my tours? - A warm and friendly experience - A thorough overview of the area, at a relaxed pace - Insights into local history and captivating anecdotes - A better understanding of political and cultural issues - An exploration of French-Canadian culture, including food, language, architecture, and more - Personalized attention and answers to your questions, along with recommendations for the best spots to visit. I specialize in several areas of focus: - Military history - Women's history - American history in Quebec City - Off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods like Old Lévis, Old Lauzon, St Jean Baptiste, and St Roch - Genealogy-based tours using your family tree, if available - Polysensorial tours for the blind and visually impaired. Uncover your French-Canadian roots with a tailored tour, based on your family tree. If you don't have one, I work with a professional genealogist who can help. My military history tours showcase military landmarks, monuments, and discuss sieges, battles, and the impact of military history on Quebec. Each tour is tailored depending on your specific needs, interests, pace, background, preferred itinerary. Weather and crowds will have an influence too. Whether you want to focus on the highlights, go off the beaten path, or a combination, I am here to make it happen. I am not only a tour guide who is passionate about my work but also a member of a local historical society, a gardener, and a parent of three young kids. I was a beekeeper (and look to have bees again later). I worked for the Hôtel de Glace as a guide, behind-the-scene guide and night guide. I've a background as amateur oarsman in Strasbourg. Originally from Strasbourg, I lived there for many years and worked as a guide for ToursByLocals. I then spent three years in Trois-Rivières and have been residing near Lévis for several years now. I founded my company, Tours Accolade, in 2017 and am eager to share my passion and knowledge of the area with you. Certified guide of Quebec City (license renewed every year). Quebec City guided tour diploma from Collège Mérici. Member of the local professional guides association AGTQ. Founder Tours Accolade Quebec. Professional partner of The French-Canadian-Genealogist.

This tour offers a unique and intriguing look at the major attempts to capture Québec-City and its extensive fortifications, giving you a fresh perspective on the city with the largest defensive network in America. About these battles & sieges : - the Kirke's victory (1629), the first time French lost Québec (30 Years' War), - the Phips' siege, a psychological battle with Frontenac (War of the Grand Alliance), - the siege of 1759, which is taught in the United States Naval Academy (yes, I did the tour for a former US Navy admiral) (7 Years' War / French & Indians War), - the siege of 1775 with R. Montgomery and Benedict Arnold (American Revolutionary War), - German threat during world wars and role of Quebec City. About the fortifications: - batteries on the shore, - early and late city fortifications, - citadel*, - Martello towers*, - defensive network of the South Shore*. *mentioned only, no access. You're interested in the military history ? This tour is made for you !
I'll customize the itinerary based on your pace and prior knowledge of Quebec City's military history. If you have a specific focus in mind, such as a particular war or general, I'll adjust the itinerary to accommodate that. The itinerary can also be adapted during the tour. We can start the tour at a location that's convenient for you, such as your hotel or cruise ship, but I prefer to begin at the Terrasse du Chevalier de Lévis on the South Shore. This is the ideal starting point to appreciate the environment that armies faced and to get a closer look at one of the French & Indian War's lesser-known general. My goal is to showcase as many of Quebec City's fortifications as possible, including the city wall, gates, citadel (exterior only), batteries, redoubt, barracks, and gun powder house. I'll use these sites to provide insight into local military history and its impact on the world's history.
