Guide #15280
Italy can be considered a widespread museum, due to its extraordinary richness of history, monuments, archaeological sites, and as an archaeologist I am eager to enhance public understanding and appreciation of this historical and cultural heritage. After graduating in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, I obtained a Specialization in Archaeology from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Archaeological Science from the University of Padua. In the last decade I have held archaeology courses for lifelong learners, taught Roman Archaeology and Art History to undergraduate students at the University of Bologna and designed and led educational tours exploring archaeological sites and museums throughout Italy. Through my commitment and enthusiasm the number of participants to my courses and tours has increased over the years. We have visited Etruscan necropolises and ancient Roman towns, travelling through the ages to investigate social and historical processes, exploring great rulers or reconstructing the everyday life of ordinary people in the cities destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I began working as a licensed tour leader in Ravenna and Bologna due to my fondness and passion for history and archaeology and I would be happy to share my expertise and knowledge with you. I was born in Ravenna and I feel fortunate to live in this small yet charming town, renowned for its well preserved, amazing Byzantine mosaics. In Bologna, where I studied archaeology, I had the opportunity to experience all the cultural wealth of a town whose architectural and art history heritage is as rich and various as its gastronomic traditions. I hope you can join me on my small guided tours, which have been limited to no more than 8 people, with the aim of offering a detailed and personal experience. The tours have been thoughtfully designed in order to provide you with an insight into the history and culture of these cities: you will learn, experience, taste their beauty! Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Heritage Conservation, University of Bologna Postgraduate Specialization in Classical Archaeology, University of Bologna PhD in Archaeological Sciences, University of Padua Licensed Tour Guide since 2014 Tenured Teacher of Italian and History at a Secondary School I am not a driver. I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

The visit to Ravenna was the highlight of our trip to Italy and Angelalea was the reason. Her background as an archaeologist and teacher made her the perfect guide. Her English was extremely good and she dealt easily with several snafus that would have made the visits very frustrating. We were there on a very crowded Saturday and running late, but Angelalea was...

Angelalea was the perfect guide. She provided just the right amound of information, had historical and iconographic information about the mosaics and buildings and answered all of our questions. She was thoughtful about the walking pace to accomodate one of our 5 members and made arrangement at one site for the use of an elevator. We couldn't have asked for a better...
