Hi everybody! My name is Silvia and I'm a professional licensed guide of Ravenna since 2000. I think being a tour guide is the most beautiful job in the world! It makes me travel even if I don't move thank to the different people and culture I can meet every day. I feel very lucky and proud to be born in Ravenna and it is an honor for me to be one of the ambassadors of her Beauty. I'll take you through a journey from the ancient glorious past of the city to the diversity of nowadays. I was born in this quiet town in the not so far 1980, this is the place where I've been raised and there is no other city where I'd like to live more than this one. All of my family comes from the countryside, my grandparents were farmers and carpenters, but my parents moved to the city in order to work in the tourism field. In fact, I've inherited the passion for travel and for discovering from my parents, and the intense bond with my land, the passion for its traditions, its genuine food, the love for restoration and conservation from my grandparents. I am also passionate about art and design. I attended the Academy of Fine Arts of the city where I studied the mosaic technique, and in my free time (not so much!) I like to create mosaics artworks and bring antique furniture back to life. My daily goal is to make visitors feel like part of the city, like a tile of its fascinating mosaics, showing them Ravenna through the eyes of the people who live here, and let them leave with the desire to come back. I will be more than happy to offer my experience and professionalism to make the most suitable tour of Ravenna for your needs. I propose different itineraries, to meet the interests of different kind of groups: from the historic-monumental tour to the local food folklore, through the fascinating Bizantine mosaics, to the contemporary artist's studios. This tour will lead you on a journey throw the golden ages of Ravenna. I'll show you the most important UNESCO sites that were founded during the three dominations of which Ravenna was the capital: Roman Empire, Barbarian Kingdom, and the Byzantine Kingdom. These impressive buildings of Ravenna are kept in a perfect state of conservation, and they are keeping safe an uncountable richness, they are witnesses from the Early Christian time, Roman-Barbarian time and the Bizantine era. As a result of these past times, mosaics are still sparkling in their vibrant light after more than 1500 years have passed. As follows, I'll explain to you the meanings of colors, shapes, and images represented in the mosaic decorations as eternal proof of a glorious past of this city. The tour allows you to alternate the entrance to the sites with a chill walk throw the center of this gorgeous place.

Silvia is an excellent tour guide. We could see how much Silvia loves sharing the history of her city. Communications on the meeting location from our Air B&B were clean and exact. Our 3 hour walking tour of Ravenna was very informative and really took us back into the history of the city and the UNESCO sites we visited. As we walked to each site Silvia would point out other interesting areas and their history and answered all our questions about Ravenna. A couple of us in the family were older and she make sure the pace of the tour was just right.
I loved this tour. We went to five major mosaic sites in central Ravenna, walking through the city's charming streets. Our guide Sylvia made these ancient sites come alive for us, telling us the story of who built them and the city's rulers. She then gave us appropriate quiet time to enjoy the art. Also, she was very personable and took good care of us. My older companion needed a few breaks, and she was very kind about accommodating that. We told her before the tour that we wanted to concentrate on the artwork, so she tailored the tour for our wishes. She also gave us good advice on planning our other free time in Ravenna. Highly reccomend!

Wow, Ravenna and Silvia Giogoli were the match made in Italy! She brought to life a city we've only heard about but wanted to see and she did it in a way that wasn't rushed, was full of insights and above all (since we were slowed by age and bad knees) she was patient. Ravenna was a highlight on our 15 day tour - but mostly it came to life through the amazing efforts of Ms. Silvia.
