Hello everyone and welcome to this beautiful land of astonishing architecture, great food and warmth atmosphere. My name is Sacha, I am a licensed tour guide and I will be more than happy to help you discover the hidden treasures of this region. I have always been passionate about travelling, art and different languages and cultures. That's the reason why I have studied foreign languages and history of art. After my Bachelor's degree in Cultural Heritage in Venice, I moved to Bologna where I got my Master's degree in History of art. That's when I have decided to turn my main interests into my job and became an Emilia-Romagna tour guide. My idea of tour is to get you in touch with the local spirit and culture of this land. I will share with you the history and the artistic heritage of this beautiful cities, as well as its typical laid back lifestyle, without forgetting the amazing gastronomic tradition. Overview of your Ravenna tour
The astonishing beauty of Ravenna lies in its glorious past. Having been capital for three times in between the 5th and 6th century, the city hosts the richest heritage of mosaics dating back to that period and it's home to 8 UNESCO sites. In this tour you will learn how and when this little city on the Adriatic coast became such a treasure trove of artistic pieces and you will admire the most important of them. We'll talk about the religious and political meaning of those colors, shapes and symbols that still amaze us after 1500 years. You'll hear about the fascinating melting pot of peoples and cultures that defined the identity of this city as well as the story of men and women who have signed it. Early Christian bishops, Roman and Byzantine Emperors and Empresses, Roman-Barbarian kings are some of the characters of these stories, of which this breath-taking mosaics are the eternal witnesses.

Sacha was absolutely brilliant, taking us around nearly all of Ravenna's mosaics. She is extremely knowledgeable and was able to explain very complex history in a clear and lively manner. She was rigorous in describing every mosaic panel, the stories, symbolism, political and religious agenda. We felt we learned an enormous amount and enjoyed every minute. She is the most terrific guide. She is also delightful company and a pleasure to spend time with.
