Best of Ravenna: Private Tour Experience

Luana is a most knowledgeable guide but it is her compassion and thoughtfulness, regarding her clients, which goes above and beyond. My travel companion had finished cancer treatments and wasn’t sure she’d be able to participate in the tour. Luana made it easy and very possible- we took a cab between churches and sat when needed- she was patient, kind and vey compassionate. Visiting the churches and the mosaics was a phenomenal opportunity! All possible because Luana saw us on an individual basis and did what she could to make the tour possible and seamless!

We had a very interesting tour of Ravenna today. Luana explained the history and the symbolism of the beautiful mosaics very clearly and simply, making it a pleasure to view.

Luana provided us with a fascinating tour of the most important sites in Ravenna. We learned a great deal and very much enjoyed Luana's company. She is very knowledgeable, was very considerate of our special wishes, and answered all our many questions with ease and grace.

Luana made our visit to Ravenna especially memorable. She accommodated to our train schedule from Bologna and organized the walking tour so that we had short distances from site to site. The history of Ravenna has many layers, and Luana was skillful in explaining the different phases and influences. She is not only native to the area, but she has studied sacred art and is able to provide detail that nerd like us (two retired professors, an art catalogue editor and an attorney) were especially interested in. She often pointed out details in the mosaics or buildings that amateurs would have missed. Moreover, she is a charming and considerate person with an impressive command of English. We recommend her highly!

What a wonderful tour. Luana was amazing. She took us directly to the sights we wanted to see and then provided historical context. She pointed out specific mosaics and explained the story and characters that they represented. At the end of our tour she made sure we knew our way back to the ship.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. She showed us Ravenna and explained the history of beautiful mosaics in churches and baptistry. We learned about the history of Dante's tomb and about the rivalry between Florence and Ravenna. Our visit to Ravenna was very enjoyable.
