I am originally from France, having immigrated to the US in 1984 when I was 17. I moved to New York City in 2002 to go to graduate school to study sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I fell in love with the city, and have been living here ever since. I am currently a Brooklyn-based artist whose work uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts such as knitting, crochet and lace. I make large-scale installations using plastic and detritus as the main materials, and drawing on community-engagement and performance as a major component of the work. I taught as an adjunct professor at Wagner College on Staten Island, (drawing, sculpture, and public art) until 2020. My passion is art, and I want to share my love of New York City through all the wonderful public art that you can see around the city. I will show you iconic New York, and some hidden treasures for a memorable experience. New York City Sight Seeing License Master of Fine Arts - Sculpture. New York Academy of Art, New York, NY

As an artist, I have spent many afternoons admiring the public art of Central Park. As former art professor, I have taught my students many secrets about the park's artwork! In this walking tour, I will share some of my favorite artwork with you, and tell you the stories behind the famous and not-so-famous statues: from the sled dog Balto, to the newest statue, the Women's Rights Pioneers Monument, to the Bethesda Fountain Angel of the Water ( the first public commission received by a woman in New York City), to Alice in Wonderland, one of the first statues inviting children and adults alike to touch, climb, and interact with Alice and her friends. We will meander around the beautiful pathways of the park, stopping at Strawberry Fields, the memorial to John Lennon, designated as a quiet zone in the park, where we will end the tour. Join me!
We will meet at Grand Army Plaza by the gold gilded sculpture of General Sherman, and walk through Central Park zoo, where we will watch the Delacorte clock chime! The animal statues around the clock will delight adults and children alike. We will leisurely meander through the park and admire its art. Among the sights I will show you are: - The statue of Balto, the famed husky of the Serum Run - The Mall with its literary walk - the Women's Rights Pioneers Monument - The Hans Christian Andersen statue - The Alice in Wonderland statue - The Bow Bridge: the most romantic bridge in the world - The Imagine memorial to John Lennon We will end the tour at the John Lennon memorial, but you can continue to Tavern on the Green if you so wish. I will make reservations for you, but email me first as their hours are currently limited. Bring your walking shoes and discover all the gems of this unforgettable park!
