When I was a young man my father would take my brother and I on trips from Albuquerque NM to Colorado to visit relatives. Along the way dad would stop at every road-side historic sign and take pictures of us standing in front of the markers. I was always intrigued with the photography my father did on his Kodak Brownie camera as well as with the historical information listed at each stop. Apparently I was influenced by both because as an adult I became a Historian and Park Ranger for the National Park Service and also an award winning Professional Photographer. These days, I have a great love and passion for taking people to different sites sharing historical information and great appreciation for the scenery, landscapes and beauty throughout our fine State of New Mexico. Please join me on a hike, walk, photo excursion, Steam Engine train ride, photography outing or to plan a half day, full day, or custom multi-day tour just for you and your group. BA degree in Communication and American Studies with concentration in History of the Santa Fe Trail, University of New Mexico.- Former Site Historian and Park Ranger National Park Service. - Lifetime resident of New Mexico.

Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926. Author John Steinbeck called it The Mother Road as it traveled from Chicago to Santa Monica California. This famous National Scenic Byway crossed 8 states and 2448 miles. New Mexico has the longest stretch of Route 66. On this tour you will see where travelers stopped to get gas at full service filling stations where they got their windshield cleaned, oil and tires checked and the gas pumped while they comfortably sat in their cars. You will also see places where they stopped to eat along the way. As your guide I will fill you in on some history and explain why Albuquerque has the only section of Rout 66 where it intersects itself.
We will cruise down Central Ave. originally Route 66 and see the famous Neon signs as we pass by the University of New Mexico, famous Nob Hill, the old Albuquerque High School, the Kimo theater to name just a few interesting spots along the way. If you get hungry we can stop for a bite and have a malt or milkshake at the Route 66 Diner. The waiters dress in original historic garb and while we sip on a cream soda or root beer we will be listening to music from The Big Bopper, Fat's Donino and of course Elvis. We will complete the tour as we check out Historic Old Town Plaza just like they did when driving down the Mother Road. This is a fun tour you will thoroughly enjoy.
