I was born in the NW valley of Albuquerque, High School and College. Both my parents families were the beneficiaries of land grants in Northern New Mexico, one was from the King of Spain the other Woodrow Wilson back in the 1800's so my history and culture of New Mexico goes back many generations. New Mexico is my passion, I was absent from the state for 30 years as I was employed at Boeing as a engineer making aircraft in the state of Washington. I would return to my home state several times a year during my absence and each trip involved mountain hikes and camping in Northern New Mexico to explore and experience the beauty of this state. I have hiked the highest peaks of New Mexico (Truchas, Wheeler, Jicarita and many more) on my solo adventures. The most memorable was on Wheeler Peak (13, 161') was a sunset ascent and then a moonlit descent, the other was a late December solo summit on the snow covered trail. Hiking in snow is a typical hike that I have experienced in the state of Washington hiking to the base camps on Mt Rainier, summiting Mt Adams on a two day and other day hikes on snow covered mountains of Washington. I am an outdoor enthusiast and can offer high altitude running on the mountain trails, bike tours and other exciting adventures. I was/am an active runner competing in over 500 races (of all distances) in the last 10 years. Adventures with beauty and excitement awaits!! Albuquerque has various historical and cultural sights for a visitor wanting to experience the typical Hispanic culture of New Mexico, your tour can be customized to any additional preferences you and party may desire. The city & surrounding areas offer the following; Old Town Plaza, Museum of Natural History, Rio Grande Nature Center, Rio Grande Bosque, Petroglyph National Monument, Albuquerque Volcanos, Sandia Peak Tramway, Route 66, Great Local Mexican Restaurants, Balloon Fiesta Park, Famed Unser Museum & a few Breaking Bad film locations. Growing up in Albuquerque from grade school to college I explored and played in this entire city, I have seen it grow and develop to the attraction that it provides to today's tourist. The Nature Center was a cottonwood forest when we were kids, a group of us built a huge treehouse above where the current caretakers building sits. Each item can last a few hours or less it's up to you and your desire on how much time you desire to spend and what you wish to see.
- Start at the Old Town plaza, tour the galleries & shops, visiting the church then off to the Museum of Natural History to learn about New Mexico's history, (a few blocks away), we can look at the statute of Onate the demonstrators tried to pull down. - Rio Grande Nature Center is located a few miles away which will be the next stop (ironically is my childhood back yard) we will do a brief walk along the paths to see typical vegetation and wildlife of the New Mexico Bosque. - Located on the west side are the Volcanoes of Albuquerque which is a short drive and then a few mile hike, the summit enables us to view the city atop one of the Volcanoes, located in one Volcano is a small steam-heated cave. - We will end the tour with a cross-city drive to the Sandia Tram, which will lift us up to an elevation of 11, 000 plus feet to view the city & actual fossils from when this mountain was underwater millions of years ago. The tour can be fit to your choice of locations, events, and time Please reach out to me!
