Hi. My name is ChrisP and thank you for taking the time to read these pages. My first visit to York with my wife changed our lives completely and forever. Following a walking tour of the city, we were so impressed by what we had seen that we made it our goal to move here, eventually fulfilling our dream and now proudly calling York our home. With our family leaving the nest (and no longer having to be Dad's taxi service!) I could develop my passion for guiding. I'd been guiding in the city for some time but could now take my research even further. You might be able to see by the tours that I offer where some of those interests lie. My other love is sport - various activities being played to questionable levels but, in the best of British traditions, I believe that taking part is more important! My tour guiding started some years ago and I have been pleased to represent different organisations and tour companies operating in the city. My experience covers a wide spectrum of visitor activity; individuals, small and large groups, and coach and railway tour parties - all from various meeting points and with quite different requirements and expectations. I have also developed a series of presentations, each based on a walking tour of the city. These are all fully illustrated and delivered to organisations and groups, including Rotary Clubs, history groups, and other local and national organisations. If you look at the tours available from me, you will see that I have included a virtual tour and would be more than happy to discuss this further should you wish. York is unique. I love the opportunity to show visitors the city; not just the obvious and traditional, but also the hidden gems which are only known to a few. I believe York embodies the very best of England - a heritage unequalled anywhere else. Should you be unable to find a tour outline to fit your needs please contact me and we can develop accordingly. Come to York, I guarantee you will not be disappointed! Over 10years of guiding experience throughout the City for individuals and groups, large and small. Admission charges for the many available attractions we have in the City are not included. Having said that admission to the National Railway Museum is, at the time of writing, free of charge.

Our first stop is the lovely market town of Pickering, Discover medieval wall paintings and a remarkable connection with USA. From here you will board a steam hauled train and travel to Goathland, giving lovely views of moorland scenery. From here we travel the short distance to Sleights where we can take refreshment. We then travel through Sandsend to the beautiful Runswick Bay. Time will be spent here allowing you to walk between the old fisherman's cottages and enjoy the view across the bay. We then make our way to the Esk Valley, enjoying the scenery for which the UK is renowned. After this we rise on to the Moors, for a very dramatic and scenic 12mile ride, populated by horned sheep and not a lot else! Please note; We will aim for the first steam hauled service from Pickering. Please also note that there are periods when the railway is not open or steam is not available. When this occurs an alternative will be offered. Please check with me in the first instance.
Chris tailored his tour of the North York Moors to meet our mobility needs and cater for our interests, including a visit to a birds of prey centre so that we could watch a flying display. Chris is a personable and knowledgeable guide and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour with him. Recommended.

We were very happy to have Chris again as a tour guide, this time a full day tour. He was really flexible and creative when we described the changing interest we had for Northern Yorkshire and the Moors—switching from our original booking themes to one that had more the feeling of All Creatures Great and Small. Chris matched our interests and had loads of information to provide including beautiful places we had not yet heard of. The Moors were such a special and wild place of geography to get to know. We had a fabulous time, and again Chris spent more than his allocated time with us—and that was so appreciated. We highly recommend Chris to anyone wanting to explore the Yorkshires and beyond.
Pickering, a very pleasant market town with some interesting local shops, a church with 15th century frescoes which are extremely rare in Britain. The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway Goathland a small but spread out moorsland village Runswick Bay, full of charm. The Esk Valley, wonderful views and picture postcard scenes throughout The North Yorkshire Moors, one of the most remote areas of the country full of interest.
