This tour is ideal for those who enjoy moderate walking while exploring as much of Oxford as possible. Christ Church can be substituted for other colleges or the Bodleian Library if preferred. We begin at Oxford rail station, taking the open-top bus to the city centre together. In the morning, we visit Christ Church, a 16th-century college and arguably Oxford's most prestigious. Here, you’ll discover its stunning stained glass, film locations, architectural splendor, and literary connections, making it a perfect introduction to Oxford’s rich heritage. After lunch, we explore more of Oxford’s astonishing history and beauty, learning about remarkable individuals, traditions, and over 1,000 years of scholarship. Highlights include Oxford CastleBridge of Sighs, the Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Square, the Sheldonian Theatre, and a visit inside the Divinity School. We conclude by hopping back on the open-top bus for a scenic journey beyond the city centre, returning to the railway station.
Start at Oxford Railway Station, taking the open-top bus to Christ Church. Explore the Great Hall, Tom Quad, and Cathedral while learning about its origins as an 8th-century priory and how its chapel became the city’s cathedral. Walk through the University’s historic core, pausing at Merton, Exeter and Lincoln Colleges. At St. Mary’s University Church, discover stories of the English Civil War, the Gothic Revival, and the Oxford Movement. In the afternoon, visit Oriel, Corpus Christi, and Merton Colleges. See the Radcliffe Camera, Oxford’s pioneering science library, alongside the distinguished All Souls College. Explore where modern science began, admire Wren’s Sheldonian Theatre, and tour the Bodleian Library, including the 15th-century Divinity School, a Harry Potter filming location. End with the second part of the open-top bus tour, taking in sights beyond the city center, including the Rhodes Scholarship headquarters, the first women’s colleges, before returning to the railway station.
