After completing my BA (Hons) in Art History and History at Oxford Brookes University, I moved to France, where I spent over 20 years restoring a medieval château and welcoming guests from around the world. In 2009, I co-founded a highly acclaimed tour company, offering seamless multi-day experiences that combined historic sites, handpicked accommodation, and exceptional guiding. I now bring those same skills and passion to my work in Oxford. Returning to Oxford felt like a natural continuation of my work with travellers. The city offers a captivating window into the past, with its rich collection of artefacts, stories, and architecture all within easy reach. The University, its colleges, and the city together offer a unique opportunity to explore British history in one of its most beautiful settings. My tours are often described as 'surprising and insightful.' Areas of expertise include art history, the English Civil War, literary tours (notably Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien), and religious history in Oxford. Popular destinations include colleges, Radcliffe Square, and the Bodleian Library. As a member of the Oxford Guild of Guides, I can arrange access to colleges not usually open to the public and am one of the few guides accredited to lead tours inside Christ Church. Tours can typically accommodate groups of up to 19 participants, though some sites may have smaller group limits. Outside of guiding, I enjoy theatre, travel, and writing. I recently published my first book about rural France. Discover Oxford's rich layers of history, literature, and architecture on this immersive four-hour experience. From old libraries to iconic college quads, the city’s compact scale brings centuries of world-class heritage within easy reach. Explore the enduring influence of scholars, monarchs, and writers as you move through spaces shaped by power, faith, and imagination. Stand in the Bodleian Library’s vaulted halls, a beacon of learning since the Middle Ages. Encounter Christ Church’s unique blend of political and spiritual history, where kings dined, and literary giants found inspiration. This tour blends majestic buildings with the human stories behind them—revealing how Oxford has shaped, and been shaped by, some of the most influential minds in Western culture. This tour offers more than facts: it invites you to experience the soul of a city where every stone has a story.
Begin on Broad Street with views of the Sheldonian Theatre and the ornate Divinity School Quad, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. From here, follow quiet lanes to the Radcliffe Camera and St Mary’s Church, where C.S. Lewis once preached, passing Brasenose and the elegant façade of All Souls College. Continue along Merton Lane to discover the peaceful haunts of J.R.R. Tolkien, then stroll through Christ Church Meadow, where Lewis Carroll dreamt up Alice’s adventures. Enter Christ Church itself to see Bodley Tower, a striking Harry Potter filming location, and Wolsey’s magnificent dining hall. The cathedral’s stained glass and Civil War monuments deepen the atmosphere of centuries past. Your return journey takes you along charming Turl Street, lined with historic colleges, before ending in the heart of Oxford, having walked in the footsteps of kings, scholars, and storytellers.
