Oxford’s wealth of iconic wonders is best explored on foot. On this tour, you'll delve into the rich history of Oxford, from its pre-Norman Anglo-Saxon beginnings to the development of the University over centuries. As we walk through the city, we’ll explore traditions, notable personalities, art, science, and key landmarks, enjoying insights that will leave you with lasting memories of your time in Oxford. As an accredited, experienced, and enthusiastic guide, I look forward to bringing the city’s history to life for you. This tour is fully customisable to fit your interests and schedule. Specific colleges, sites, and film locations can be included in the tailored experience. You’ll encounter Colleges at every turn, and visit inside a Medieval college. Sites include: Radcliffe Camera, Divinity School, Bridge of Sighs, and the Bodleian Library. Oxford’s treasures reveal stories of patronage, saints, scholars, artists and martyrs — shaping over 1000 years of history.
We begin at the Martyrs' Memorial, a landmark commemorating Protestant martyrs. From there, we visit the Anglo-Saxon Tower, Oxford’s oldest building, which was once a prison. Moving towards the centre, we explore Turl Street, home to Exeter, Jesus, and Lincoln Colleges, each with unique histories. At St. Mary's University Church, steeped in academic significance, we pause near the spot that allegedly inspired C.S. Lewis' Narnia. At Radcliffe Square, we admire Oxford’s first science library and All Souls College. We Enter into the Bodleian Library’s ‘Old Schools Quad’. The Divinity School, known from Harry Potter. and the historic Duke Humphrey’s Library can be included. Finally, we explore one of Oxford’s oldest colleges, with its tranquil gardens, chapel, and magnificent dining hall—rounding off an unforgettable journey through the city’s history.
